Depends what damage has been done to the motor. If the tool is still running but sparking you need to check what sort of sparks they are. Short fat blue sparks only going halfway round the commutator (brush end of motor/armature) then it is 90% probable that just your field coil assy is blown. If it is thinner, whitersparks going all the way around then it is the armature and possibly the field aswell. Another way to check is to remove the brushes via the covers on either side at teh bottom of the motor and check the contacting surface. If it is fairly shiney and polishe then there is little sparking and hopefully no cause for concern. If one or both is pitted and dull it has been sparking and burning. If one is shorter and darker than teh otehr this indicates a problem with the field coil. It isn't a massivly hard job to change the motor parts. If you need more advice let me know.

This is a very easy fix - you have a quick change chuck on this tool. Turn the chuck counter-clockwise and pull it straight off - the new one goes on the same way. Quick Change Bit Chuck

All grease packed hammers require a certain period of time to warm up. Depending on the room temperature, this time may vary from approximately 15 seconds (90'F) to 2 minutes (32'F). A new hammer requires a break-in period before full performance is realized. This period may require up to 5 hours of operation. - depending on the time the device has already been in use it is recommended it should be regreased with a special gear lubricant, - perhaps the grease inside has been used up already, then a proper function of the device is not possible anymore and it has to be serviced.

Chuck mechnism went bad or is dirty.

The chucks on the 11236 are designed to be removed, if you were not aware of this it may look like the tool has failed, it has not. To replace the chuck set the chuck back on the shaft of the tool, grip the outer collar of the chuck and rotate it counterclockwise while pushing down .The chuck will drop into a set of grooves on the shaft and lock there, give it a wiggle after to make sure its seated. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get it. To remove it just grip the collar turn counterclockwise and pull up, the chuck will come off.

Turn lever to the right until it stops, then push the red button in with a screwdriver and at the same time turn the lever clockwise a bit more until it stops. Wiggle lever and it will come out.

Have you pulled the collar to release the pressure on the steel balls. Just pull the collar usually forward and slide on the shaft and then release and twist till it locks. Let me know if I can help further

You twist the chuck counter clock wise while pushing down on it. It will not go on if you rotate it clockwise. Must be COUNTER CLOCKWISE. If this doesn't work then the bit sleeve in the chuck is worn too much and needs repalced. You remove the chuck by rotating counter clockwise and pulling up on it.

If you are getting leakage out the chuck end, the shaft seal needs replaced. You can get it done at a Bosch service center or get the seal and replace it yourself. Don't wait to long there is only a limited amount of lubricant in the tool.

Alright, look at the picture. if (49) is missing the little tab on the opposite side shown, you will need a new shifter knob. Ideally, you would insert (83) into (49) and then push them into the knob until you hear and feel it click, that would mean that the tab has locked into the knob, and then with a pick you will set the shift fork opening in the hole to the northwestern corner of the hole. Then, making sure (46) is aimed through the shift fork wire opening, set the entire knob assembly down on the housing, push (49) all the way in until you feel the entire knob settle in further on the housing, and then rotate counter clockwise and press down at the same time. At this point the knob is installed. If (49) is damaged, I would suggest getting the knob assembly(32). The part number is 1-612-026-037 and costs about 9 dollars. It can be purchased online, or through your nearest bosch service center.

Open locking sleeve, clean the inside with a good "rust type cleaner" WD40 if you can't find anything else, let it sit overnight, I suggest doing this 2 or 3 times, leave tool with drill end facing down. Clean out with small round wire brush, lubricate with white grease.
