try checking the starter it could have a dead spot in it. I am not a mechanic by any means but had this happen to me on a semi some years ago. sometimes it took someone tapping on it with a hammer while another was holding the key-that was a big truck so I wouldnt go hitting it real hard, or if its not too hard to get to maybe take it off and take it somewhere like a battery/starter specialty shop

I have been told if the parking brake is engaged and you try to drive the mower it will instantly put a burn spot on the belt. I hope this helps.

Belt needs tightening or its brocken.Check first.

Likely its a hydro-gear, available from multiple sources.

Swisher ZTR steering arm is a poor design and loosens over time which eventually causes control issues. If the steering arms flop about, the main pivot bolt needs tightened.

It sounds like the belt was installed wrong or not adjusted assuming it is the correct replacement.
