Did you carry out the correct bleeding procedure? back wheels off the ground half engine revs, five forward shifts the five reverse shifts, now put unit in bypass and same again, carry this out two or three times until the there is a smooth drive and no noise, if this does not work check the brake disc on the side of the unit is not binding, if this is ok then there is some internal damage, inside the unit there is a alloy centre section with a cylinder block and pistons running on it, if the running face is scarred then oil will leak between the two mating surfaces and there will be little or no power, this will get worse the hotter the unit gets. You can remove the two half's of the unit and replace these components.

This is an internal leak in the gear box, if there has been no oil leakage there is no value in topping the unit up, you could check the disc brake on the side of the gearbox is not binding, it is adjustable with a 1/2 spanner, if all else fails it is a new unit or a rebuild with new centre section kit.

This typically indicates a bad spark plug or coil on one side. Possibly the wiring going to the coil or from the coil to the plug. Use a spark tester to test for spark on that side. Other less fun problems are the valves on that side need adjustment.

What are the size of the streaks? and where in the 48 inch swath?

it could be that the solenoid is bad i would try that they are realtivaly cheap and easy to put on make sure to unhook battery

check for a area of the wire insulation that has been wore off against the frame or body of the mower. sounds like a electrical short. it may be a very small spot that's all it takes so check well

starter silinoid bad replace but first jump the starter to make sure its not bad

If the deck was supplied with grease zerks, they will be located on top of the spindle mandrels. If there are no zerks on the spindle mandrels, the bearing are a sealed bearing and need no greasing.

One or more of the pulleys are worn and need to be replaced. The method I use is to pull the belt away and hand-spin each pulley to see which one has a grinding sound or loose feel. (A new pulley will feel rock solid and have no sound when you spin it.)

Have you tried pulling the hood off cleaning any oil contamination off the suspected area then start it and watch while it's clean. It seems weird that a valve cover gasket would be the failure after two repair shops looked at it. You may need to look close at the head gasket could possibly being blown forward. I know you said it leaks so I'm assuming there is nothing actually coming from within the motor being blown through the muffler I have seen these motors burn oil heavy on startup than clean up after warm.

is the blade engagement system a lever or a switch? If a lever , then look on the deck where the pulley applies tension to the drive belt for a sticking point. the cable from the lever will be attached to it and it should move smoothly in and out of drive position. sounds like the pulley is not retracting when cable is released. check for sticking of pulley arm or maybe a missing return to idle/off spring is broken or missing.The deck should disengage as soon as the tension on the cable is removed.if electric, the clutch itself is always getting power, so a swithc circuit fault is to be expected.

May have a spindle bearing out.

The clutch is mounted to a plate. The mounting bolts must be out.

it seems like you have a problem with your carburetor you need to get a carburetor rebuild kit this will help with the flow of gas into the carburetor . you will also need to replace or clean the spark plug it is most likely black from the unburnt gas . Get a pair of vise grips gently clamp the fuel line from the gas tank to cut off the flow of gas to the carburetor If you have a new lawnmower you need to see if the bowl is held in place by a screw or a spring clip if it has an aluminum bowl take off the screw from the bottom of the bowl you will see some sediment that is an orange rusty color in the bowl new gas or brake cleaner or carb cleaner will remove it wear gloves while doing it. wipe clean set bowl aside on a clean paper towel. the screw that went into the bottom of the bowl has some small holes in it i recommend getting a cutting torch tip cleaner from home depote or lowes in the welding section it has very tiny wires with ridges to clean the holes after cleaning these you should be able to put the whole thing back together . if the screw in the bottom has a screw with a spring in it you want to turn the screw all the way in until it stops then loosen it 2 and a half turns if the screw is on the side of the carburetor then do the same procedure make sure it is not the screw on the idle that is a separate adjustment . if you can start the engine @ this point if it is running a bit rough to let less gas screw in tighter to allow more gas loosen till engine is running smooth with no pulsing up and down. i hope this helps if you have any questions or need more help please post thanks have a nice day

Sorry to say it but someone probably hit something and the blade, pulley or deck is bent and when ever you engage the belt for the blades and they wont turn and the pressure is to much for the mower then it dies. You will need to measure the blade on one side and see if the measurement is the same one the other side of the mower but the same side of the blade. if the measurement is not the same or wont move check to see if the blade is against the deck if it is and the blades are not bent your pulley and shaft could be bent and you can measure both right and left sides of the pulley on top not blades side of the deck, if the measurement is different it is bent and you will have to take it to a service repair shop . At first glance it sounds like starter is not engaging just spinning they usually don not give us a warning they just go at the wrong place and time. Take it off and bench test it to make sure or take it to your local repair shop or maybe even auto zone they will test it for you. Good Luck...

Most all riders have a safety seat switch now and they do malfuction alot. They are under the seat and are ez to replace most of the time. First look for a wire that is grounding due to rubbing a sharp object. That can be fixed with black tape

Check your drive belt. If you removed the rear wheels, make sure you reinstalled the drive keys.

If it started when a rag wrapped around the spindle mandrel? You may have damaged the mandrel. Check where they bolts onto the deck, if the mounts are damaged, this could give you the vibration. You could also have done something as simple as bent a blade.

the air mixture carburetor screws have vibrated out causing this dilemma. you will need to readjust them or have it done by a qualified repair technician
