Cannot change the oil filter on my Huqvarna

Make sure that you have a new replacement filter cartridge ready. See if you can locate a product called PB Blaster (available at most better auto parts stores). Spray the PD Blaster around the base of the oil filter where it screws into to housing. Using a small headed hammer, or anything else such as a cold chisel that has some weight to it, gently tap around the housing using a lot of small taps rather than really striking it hard. This sets up a resonance in the metal of the housing that helps the PB Blaster wick into the area where the filter connects to the housing. Wait a few minutes (I usually do this twice) and then try unscrewing the filter again. Worst case scenario is drive a heavy screwdriver all the way through the filter and try using that to unscrew it. If you tear up the filter, use Vice-Grips to rip off the remaining ring of the filter from the housing. Clean the contact area of the housing and also the rubber seal of the new filter with a rag. Get some clean oil on your finger and apply it all around the rubber seal of the new filter. Screw the new filter onto the housing and tighten it as hard as you are able using your HANDS ONLY!! One quarter turn past full contact should be all that is necessary. Never use a filter wrench to tighten a new filter as it makes it too tight. Fill the crankcase with new oil and start the tractor. Let it warm up and check for any leaks around the filter. Tighten by hand only, or VERY easy use the filter wrench to give it a SMALL tightening tweak. If this has been helpful, please rate it accordingly. Thanks and good luck.

Low and idle speed engine dies

Hi..my name is Keith..and for some reason they put your question under lawn tractors..but i know motorcycles..and a Honda XR 250 is a motorcycle..so..with your problem..if your engine has run fine before..then you dont need to make any carb adjustments..but...if it hasnt then it could be the carb slide needs to be adjusted up or down to make it richer or leaner..but if it has ran properly..then i would suspect you need to install an accelerator pump kit in it..but you can check this by taking your air filter connection off and look in the back of the carb and have someone to operated the throttle quickly..and see if it sprays a stream of fuel into the throat of the carb(if it dont..you need a kit)...or the float is set at the incorrect height. or the float needle and seat needs replacing..but it is a carb problem...i hope this has helped..if not...write me back

What will make the mower blades just stop while

your deck is activated by a vacuum system under the hood of the tractor. there are two fuses involved and other components. I would begin by checking the fuses, in the fuse panel under the dash panel.

When you turn your mower deck on it comes on and

Very possibly an open or a short in the electrical circuit that controls the power take-off. Inspect the line connecting the switch that engages the deck all along it's length to see if it's frayed somewhere. If the bare wire is contacting metal, you have a short. Very possibly one end is somewhat loose giving you an open circuit. Take the ends off, clean and reinstall tightly.

Pto willl not engage

Hi mate, Although my trade is repairing turfcare machinery, I have no experience with this model, so I will try my best. Firstly, the clicking you hear will probably be the electric clutch engaging/dissengaging. Firstly, see if you can get the clicking with engine off, keyswitch in first position/on/lights on dash. You may have to place something heavy on the seat and have traction pedal in neutral. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT ENGAGE THE STARTER MOTOR/START THE ENGINE THROUGHT THIS!

Now have a look under the footwell on top of the deck and try to determine where the clicking is coming from, there will be a clutch there somewhere joining the engine drive pulley to a deck pulley, Also at this point check that both belts are on and with the ENGINE OFF! spin the blade/blades with your hand and ensure that the deck belts are not slipping on the deck pulleys. If they are you will need to establish where the tensioning system is. (Sorry i know pretty vague)

Back to the Clutch, once you establish where it is, engage the blades ENGINE OFF! and you should feel a greater resistance turning the blades as you are now turning the engine as well, beware though, it is theoretically possible to start the engine by doing this, but you will almost certainly not be able to spin the blades that quickly by hand.

If it is clicking to engage but not turning the engine pulley when spinning the blades by hand, then try tapping the clutch lightly as it may not be fully dissengaging.

I would put money on it being either one of the belts coming off/snapping, the blades jamming or the clutch not engaging fully.

If you find that the clicking is not the clutch engaging and its actually getting no power to the clutch then you need to go back to the pto switch and go through all safety switches! (good luck, it usually ends up with me bypassing them or running a new cable to the switch, then, smoke, shouting, swearing etc etc!) Either not advisable.

In doing all this you should have been able to have determined the problem be it one that I have mentioned or another.

Hope this helps,
Chris.
