If the resett has not helped to confirm the error to be software related or not it will be good to have it checked on an HTC service centre for a code error. It will then be confirmed if this is a hardware issue.

They did a software update recently. Try uninstalling it and have a new email sent to you from their website to reinstall.

Soft-reset should sort it, pop the tip of the stylus in the reset hole in the base of the unit.

Would you mind telling us, what it is that's broken. Did the lcd physically broke (i.e. in serveral pieces)? In that case, you have to replace it.
Did it just stay black? Could you check (with a bright lamp) whether you can see a hint of a little, then? If so, the backlight has gone bad. If not, or if you can see it lighting up on start, but it stays black, it might be the connector...
If the screen itself works, but the touch part of the touchscreen does not, look around here, there's a solution in a thread called "HTC touch pro... touch screen has stopped working".

It appears the software to display the touch icons became disabled. There are of course ways to re-enable it, but since you did not write whether you got your phone from htc or by any provider, I am not sure which software this is on your device.

A solution (albeit not the quickest one) is to a complete backup of the phone to sd card (there are programs for that, check out spb backup for a start), then doing a hard reset (like re-formatting the device - you can find it on the settings->system menu, it's called something like erase everything). This will revert the phone to factory default (including a working touch icon application)
After that you restore the backup to get all your data back.
This should solve it.

Not really sure if this is going to be of ANY use to you at all.

What you have done is take a Windows phone and try and install Android software on to it. That is like getting and Apple Mac then putting windows onto it.
As you have found out. The phone didn't like it.
What you need to do is get Windows Mobile 6.1 back onto it.
As there are no standalone versions of Windows mobile you may be in trouble.
You could always try and do a HARD reset. This is SUPPOSED to return your phone to factory standard.

To perform a hard reset:
1. With the device turned off, press and hold the Volume Down and Enter keys first, and then press and hold the Power key until you see the following message on the screen:
"This operation will delete
all your personal data,
and reset all settings
to manufacturer default.
Press Vol Up to restore
manufacturer default, or
press other keys to cancel."

2. Release the Volume Down, Enter, and Power keys, and then press the Volume Up key to perform the hard
reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset. Click >>>HERE<<< to see instructions and picture of which buttons you press.

Unfortunately I'm thinking that you have flashed the rom and therefore wiped Windows Mobile 6.1 completely from the phones ROM or read only memory.

Hi,when a phone does not come on, it is either the battery of the phone is dead, might need to be charge or replaced with another battery.

you can use another battery to test if it is the battery the fault.

when a phone won't turn on and blinks red light, it 's either the battery cell
if too weak to power up the phone all application you downloaded on the phone is infected with VIRUS and has affected the phone's memory.


First Charge the battery for longer hours before using another battery to confirm
if the battery cell is the problem.

If not battery, in think you will have to flash the phone memory for it to come back to life.

there is nothing wrong with your screen, the problem is from the flex that connects your screen to the phone's main board. This flex must have worn out that's why your screen is not displaying any picture.

The problem is common with flip and slide phones. The flex gets worn out as a result of constant opening and close of the flip or slide phone.

I would urge you to replace the flex and I am assuring you that your screen will display picture again. You might also be lucky to find out that the flex is not well fix, that is, it may have loosed contact.

If you cannot change the flex yourself, maybe you should take the phone to a local repairer within your vicinity, so that the flex can be fixed/replaced.

Could be both, could be either. Let's hope it is a software issue.

One obvious solution is... well... change it back! Then do a power-cycle. (feel free to remove the battery for a few minutes before powering on)

If it went back to being "upright" when the keyboard is closed, then it is a software issue.

You also have other "sensory"-related apps to activate to better diagnose the failure. For instance:

• you can activate Keyboard Sliding sounds

Start--> Settings--> Personal--> Keyboard Sliding

Choose a sound (any sound), test it (make sure the phone sounds off with it), then activate it.

Then open the keyboard and close it to activate the sounds. If it sounds off, then it's a software problem.

Software problems are easier to fix:
1) backup your hard-earned data (contacts, calls, sms, mms, etc.)
2) then do a factory/hard-reset
3) Once control is given to you, restore the hard-earned data.

Soft-reset the device. Then enjoy.

The problem with your phone is still virus, the phone as been attack by virus, i will advice that you get rid of the RAM on the phone and get another another RAM because the one there at the moment as been effected by virus which cannot be deleted, so get another RAM on your phone.
