HP Mini 2140 "Plugged in, charging" but not charging
Hello jorel, most likely its a failure of the system board particularly the charging section, a broken pin or a loose terminal. work will be internal, suggest you do away with the battery. its better to operate it at home, or bring the charger with you. Maybe its time to get a new one.
RESETTING BIOS FOR HP DV2100
This is normally hitting the Delete key at starting up during BIOS posting. There should be an exit menu where you can load BIOS DEFAULTS. If you can't find it the other way to clear CMOS is to remove the battery. Read the Maintenance and service guide.Prepare the computer for disassembly (refer to Section 5.3, "Preparing the Computer for Disassembly," for more information).2. Remove the real-time clock (RTC) battery (refer toSection 5.5, "RTC Battery," for more information).3. Wait approximately 5 minutes.4. Replace the RTC battery and reassemble the computer.5. Connect AC power to the computer. Do not reinsert any batteries at this time.6. Turn on the computerClearing CMOS will set the BIOS to its DEFAULT setting. The only "resetting" of a BIOS is setting DEFAULTS.

Hi
Thank you for your query
Please try the folowing
1) Remove ALL wires and then press and hold the power button in for approx 20 seconds
2) Plug everything back in and then rerty
This may sort the issue out however from what you are descrbing, if there is no boot or display it is highly likely the motherboard and/or the CPU is faulty
I would recommend that you book the PC into a reputable PC repair shop if the above does not work
If this has been useful please leave postive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank You Again

When power on my laptop it is not working?
Ok, you say when you power up the unit, the power Led comes up an then goes out.?
1st. If you have the battery inserted and the power adapter plugged in and the charging light comes on, showing the battery is charging, the power adapter and battery are most likely OK.
That's not the problem.
2nd. If the unit tries to power up and fails, the best thing you can do is, A. Remove any media in CD/DVD drive. Reove the power adapter and battery,
B. Remove the two covers showing the Hard Drive and Memory. Remove Both H/D and Memory.
C. Disconnect the CMOS Battery, located just above and top right of memory. (Next to Wireless Card). The is a white 2-pin connector.
D. Flip the unit over and press the power button for 15-30 seconds.
3rd. Know you have cleared the CMOS. You will have to re-enter the time and date, once the unit comes back on line.
4th. Reinstall only one piece of memory, Then the CMOS battery and leave the cover off for now.
5ft. Install the battery, Flip the unit over and plug in the A/C adapter.
6st. Look to see if the charging light comes on.
7th. If the charge light comes up, Power up the unit.
The message you should see is Date and Time press F-10 to continue. and then should say, missing Operating system or no disk found.
Remember if the unit will enter the BIOS screen and does not drop off, your in good shape.!
Power off the unit.
8th. Re-install remaining memory and check again. If no problems,
9th. Turn unit off and re-install Hard Drive.
10th. Power on unit and if you have problems, OK., more than likely, its the H/D. and may need to be re-formatted.
If the unit comes up OK, and you suspect the hard drive is at fault, Look for the Hard Drive Test utility in the BIOS screen. (This will smart drive test the hard drive and will take some time, depending upon the size of the drive..)
If you have errors on the drive on the boot partition, you will know soon enough, being the drive has two partition, one in the front of drive and one at the end.
If the drive is OK good deal.
If after trying all the above and the unit still will not power up and run correctly, please respond to this info. and I will run you thru some other things to check.
