what are you using for gps? ovi maps? garmin? google maps?

i suggest installing google maps to see if your gps is working alright.

then check in phone settings to ensure that gps positioning method is enabled for 'built-in gps' and 'assisted gps', thereafter check positioning server is set to 'supl.nokia.com'.

normal lock time is around 5-30seconds with E71 GPS with A-GPS on; anything more than that i'd attribute it to a faulty built-in gps unit.

When you place a new or a existing SIM card from another phone provider into your mobile phone and it asks for a Security code then :-
This phone is locked to the original mobile phone provider. You need to contact this mobile provider to ask for the unlock code (security code) for this phone. I am not familiar with that specific phone, but when you open the camera app on most phones there is a button that is a picture of a camera with curved arrows pointing left and right. That button switches from back to front and vice versa.

try to switch on your phone without simcard... if it doesn't hang then may your memory card has a virus... and if it is still hanging without memory card try to format your phone......

ask you telecom wander for your imei number. may be they can give you because your last moble no you have some imei number resitration with your telecommunication wander

try to go to your contacts then left click menu. then click settings . you have options to display click either phone memory or Sim memory or both. depending on where you saved your contacts. either to sim or phone.

you simcard maybe damage but try to clean it with an eraser.
