I am trying to change my NAT settings from strict to open so that I can play Xbox Live more efficiently, but I only want to change this on my xbox and not on my computer. Help? i have a linksys wireless-n broadband router and i have my UPnP enabled and i have the ports typed in for my router configuration but still everytime i get on xbox live and test my xbox live connection it says that i still have a moderate NAT connection when i want a open NAT connection. I have tried everything so can you PLEASE HELP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!!!
You need to open all the ports for the xbox live. The NAT of that router model cannot be configured to open. Its just a simple NAT for internet connection.

i have a linksys wrt160n v2 and i cant manage to connect to the internet. when i connect the modem directly the internet connection works fine, but when i connect the router, my pc cant get any internet connection.
i allready tried both DHCP and manually configured ip with the same dns and gateway ip's (192.168.2.1) my router ip is also (192.168.2.1).
i can get to the router settings (change password, etc), but still no internet.
can anyone help.thanks
if this is DSL connection then you have to configure your modem before you connect router
follow this
first disabled wireless on your modem/router
.1) Turn off DHCP on your modem/router I am assuming this is verizon westell
2. Configure the first VC port to Bridge-Bridge mode
3. Keep hitting "apply" in the windows until the 7500 reboots
4. Plug the "Internet" port on the linksys to one of the normal ethernet ports on the modem /router
5. Turn on the Netgear and wait for the green Internet light to go solid
good luck if this does not work provide more info on your setup

To start, it was working fine until we had a huge internet connection problem. That was when we had someone hacking on to our router, making everything ridiculously slow. We fixed that (made a new WPA passcode), and the Internet (plus our Wii) was working fine. Then, we were working on electrical wires in the room next to the computer room. This caused us to lose our IP address (somehow). We fixed that, thanks to AT&T's help, but one thing was wrong. I attempted a connection test on our Wii. It said it was successful (after 2 1/2 minutes or so), but I was unable to connect at all. I tried clearing the settings, then attempting to re-connect. Now, it can't even find it as an access point. Help? It would be nice.
I am thinking the router was set to get it's IP from the modem and when you changed the IP after the power failure, is when you problems started. I suggest looking at your networks IP addresses. I think they are not on the same subnet.
My first step would be to record the settings and do a hard reset on the router, then proceed to reinstall the settings and make sure your network is on the same subnet.

How do I enable UPnP on this router WRT160N
on WRT160N router UPnP is enabled by default.
You don't need to enable it.
If you want to check the settings of the router then you will need to open the set up page of the router. Router set up page is a page where you can check/change all the settings of the router.
Is there any computer connected to the router. Check the Ip address of the working computer and open the router set up page.
Once you open the router seyt up page, click on Administration Tab. On that page at the bottom you will see UPnP. It must enabled.

There is no wireless connection and it says that the password may have been changed. It also asks for the key to be entered. What is the network key? How do I change it? How do I restore the assigned randomized key?
Is there any computer online using the router.
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
router set up page is the page where you can check all the router settings.

Does my WRT160N have a WPS button and if so, where is it?
The Linksys WRT160N has WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup). If you are using WPA-PSK encryption (recommended), then you can easily connect the C4780 to your wireless network using WPS: 1) On the Linksys router, press the WPS button that is top of the case just under the Cisco label. When the LED on the button starts to blink, then the WPS process has started.
