LG LHD45EL Dehumidifier - Page 3 Questions & Answers
Ch 01
Change the sensor assembly and all will be fine, about $30 from Appliance Factory Parts on line store, about an hour to do, all that is needed is Phillips screw driver to take unit apart.
Fan will not come on.
The fan has to run if the compressor is running as the fan assists in removing the heat from the condenser coil. Can you spin the fan by hand? If there is full power(120 volts) to the fan and it isn't running then the fan motor is bad. Also, if the fan motor has a run capacitor this could keep the fan from running(if the capacitor is defective) so look for this first.
How to change/ add refrigerant

My LHD45ELY7 freezes up. Why? Is it broken?
Assuming this isn't just a weather change, it probably needs cleaning. The unit is supposed to run the fan without the compressor intermittently to give the cold coils a chance to warm up a bit so the little bit of ice that normally forms can melt off. But once they get dirty, this melting and runoff is impeded. Spray some formula 409 (or similar) on the coils and rinse thoroughly. It is also possible that the unit is not switching over to run the fan only (without the compressor). This could be due to a bad temperature sensor, or it may be dirty or corroded so it thiinks the coils are a bit warmer than they really are. If you can find this sensor (it's usually attached to the coils with a little spring clip) see if you can't clean up where it makes metal contact (thermal contact) witht the coil. Good luck.
Compressor and fan working but no water
Take the bucket out and remove the two (black colored phillips head) screws at the bottom of the front panel, just above where the bucket was. Push the bottom of the panel to the side a bit to release the retaining tabs from the metal side panels and pull the bottom of the panel forward to remove the panel from the top tabs, leaving wires attached. Put the bucket back in place and observe the coils while compressor and fan run for several minutes (5 to 10 minutes will do). If coils do not get cold, or only get cold over a small area, you have a refrigerant leak. A refrigerant leak is not economical to repair. Most dehumidifiers have a 5 year sealed system warranty, so round up your receipt and call LG with the model and serial number (located on a sicker behind the bucket) to get an exchange unit. Going from memory here, but I think you can reach LG at 1-800-256-0000.
No cowater collecttion
I have a goldstar dehumidifier model #dh2510a. It runs but does not collect any water in the tank. I have pushed the tank up to the red button in the back. Is there a fuse or something else I can do.
The nmachine works fine but
The bin or bucket as it's called, simply pulls straight out from the holder. Be sure no packing or shipping tape is still on the unit, holding the bucket in place. Be sure when you're trying to remove the bucket, that you pull evenly from left to right on the bucket.
Hope this helps and thanks for choosing FixYa.
I have a code on
CH 01 Indicates that water collection tank is full and needs to be removed & emptied. Turn the unit OFF and unplug it, before removing the bucket.
