Whirlpool 75-Pint Dehumidifier Questions & Answers
BUCKET DOES NOT FILL WITH WATER
It could be the coil & condensor are dirty.
Or it could be that the humidity level is below what the unit will work at. Below 50% humidity and or 70 degrees Fahrenheit, it generally will not do much.
I have had a AD75UST0 WHIRLPOOL Dehumidifier for several years. If it actually still runs, I would suggest you take off covers and give the coils a good thorough cleaning. Otherwise the units are not designed to be serviceable aka - "disposable small appliance". if you do dispose of it take it to a qualified recycle organization for Freon products.

My dehumidifer runs but no water is being pulled out

Remove "bucket". You should find a "tab" at top of where bucket goes in middle front of unit. Pull down to remove tab of Filter. Clean thoroughly and dry Filter before re installation. Visually inspect the coils and condenser while filter is out ( a flashlight helps). If it looks slightly dusty or like covered in felt, then it would be wise to remove front and rear covers and give the coils and condenser a thorough cleaning.WHIRLPOOL DEHUMIDIFIER Parts Model ad75ust0 Sears PartsDirect

Product is about 6 years old. Used in basement.
There is some service that you can do ... Clean the filter and the cooling coils, regularly. Check the humidity level that you have the unit set on. It may be set to low and there's just not that much humidity in the air at this time, for it to collect. From what you said, it sounds like you may have it set on continuous cycle which could account for the lack of a lot of water in the bucket. In continuous run, the fan stays ON all the time. It's supposed to do that, so that the air is constantly moving and the sensor only turns the compressor ON, if it senses a humidity level 5% higher than what you have it set for. Try running the unit on a 1 or 2 hour cycle (if your model will do that) rather than continuous cycle.
Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

I have a whirlpool dehumidifier (AD75UST0) and it
No. I have had a AD75UST0 WHIRLPOOL Dehumidifier for several years. My unit slowly got less and less efficient, then it "stopped" coming on as if it was not working. Upon disassemble and inspection I found fan was no longer spinning. It tries to start then (actually the condenser coils begin to freeze, but no Fan) then it shuts down within 30 sec or so.I am going to try a replacement Fan and fan start Capacitor (always replace in pairs).

UNIT IS LEAKING WATER BUT WATER BUCKET IS EMPTY
If the hose is attached the previous answer seems valid and correct. However, I have had a AD75UST0 WHIRLPOOL Dehumidifier for several years. I noticed the port where the water collects to drain into the "tub" sometimes gets a slimy fungal growth on it. This is something that should be routinely cleaned . Just pull out the tub and look at top of Tub compartment. then wipe the portal with a cleaning cloth (use Lysol or similar if desired). This method helped mine significantly from "leaking". In the long run I placed a rectangular storage tub lid under it to protect carpet.

I have installed a hose
Janice, the problem may be with the drain hose being to long (shouldn't exceed 48") or it and the hose connection on the unit is clogged. The hose is easy to check, by disconnecting it and either looking thru it or blowing thru it.
To solve the clogged hose connector and interior drain tubing, do the following:
Turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic
Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hose connection & interior tubing.
Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will
need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either
bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip
Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs.
As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water
may follow. Reconnect the hose to the unit, plug the unit in and turn the Master
ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or
Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run,
while you monitor the hose for water flow. It may take 5 to 10 minutes for water to start flowing.
NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers.
I hope this helped you, Janice and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Hopefully, it's not a problem inside the unit that's causing the circuit breaker to trip. Is there another electrical appliance plugged into the same outlet or on that circuit that is ON and draws 15 amps of power? If so, that's the problem. If that's not the case, turn the circuit breaker OFF and remove the outlet cover, so you can inspect the receptacle and it's wiring. A loose wiring connection or a broken or cracked receptacle could be the issue. If you don't find any damage reassemble the outlet and turn the circuit breaker back ON. Instead of plugging in the dehumidifier, plug in a lamp or something similar and turn it ON. Leave it on for more than 5 minutes to see if the circuit breaker trips again. If it does, you'll know the problem is either with the outlet receptacle or the circuit breaker. If doesn't, plug in the dehumidifier (Make sure the Master ON/OFF Switch on the unit is in the OFF position, before plugging it in. Then turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and set your controls. If the circuit breaker trips again, the problem is in the dehumidifier. You will need to call Whirlpool Customer Care, as it's an internal electrical issue.

Most of the units do not require the bucket to be in place, when the hose is attached. However, since you didn't list the Model Number of your unit, I can't be sure that's the case with yours. However, if you click on the following link, and enter the correct model number, you can download and print the Owners Manual for future reference.

I have a Whirlpool AD75UST humidifier that stopped
Have you checked the receptacle it's plugged into, to see if it's still working? Use an electric lamp to check this. If the lamp doesn't work, the circuit breaker in the home's main panel has been tripped. Unplug the dehumidifier and reset the circuit breaker. Then plug the dehumidifier back in. If it trips the circuit breaker again, there's an electrical problem within the dehumidifier.
In answer to your direct question ... some dehumidifiers have a reset switch. It's probably on the back of the unit, above the water collection tub. if all else fails consult your Owners Manual's Trouble Shooting Guide. If you have misplaced it, you can download it from the Whirlpool Appliance starting at their home page.
Hope this helped head you in the right direction to solving your problem.

Wont pull water
The compressor must not be running or the unit has a sealed system issue. Hardly worth fixing these as they are inexpensive.

If the room tempature is close to 60, the coils may be frozen (completely encased in ice). If this is the case, move it where the water can drain off - about 1 gallon which may NOT run into the drain bucket.
I out mine over the floor drain.
Turn off and it will defost over night.
Only specially made dehumidifers work below a room temo of 60 degrees (the temp of a basement in winter).
Does it need to be running? A digital humidity sensot from Radio Shack is cheap and may tell you the humidity is OK - only 50% or less.
