Remington chain saw oil problem

I have model 107624-02, 16 inch electric chainsaw. I used it once with bar & chain oil, and it worked great. Then I noticed that the instructions say, "do not use bar & chain oil". So the next time I used it, I went with the recommended 30 weight. But the chain is dry; I can't seem to get the oil to dispense.

I took off the sprocket cover, but can't find where the oil dispenses onto the chain. Have I gummed up the works by using the wrong oil the first time?

hi,

yes sounds as if you have gummed up the port for the oiler. you will need to clean the oil resevoir out using some kerosene or mineral spirits this will clean the port out and will not be harsh on the plastic. bar and chain oil is thick but has a sticky quality or viscosity that allows it to lubricate gas engines mor effectively and uses the heat from the engine to help thin it to a consistency to be of use to the bar and chain. on an electric chain saw there is not enough heat to allow this. a good oil resevoir cleaning and replace you oil with a light weight oil recommended this should do the trick. good luck hope this helped.

While Bar Chain oil will probably work, the owners manual (sitting in front of me) on page 9 says to "use SAE #30 motor oil". This is the owners manual for Models: M12510US, M15012US, M15014US, M15014AS, M30016US, M30016AS, M30016AW, M35016UW, M35016AW. Remington Electric Chain Saw

First, inspect the chain for bent links or other damage. If ok, loosen the bar mounting nut(s) and turn the tension adjust screw CCW until the chain can be passed over the sprocket, then threaded over the far end of the bar. Make sure the chain cuts toward you on the bottom. Turn the adjusting screw CW until the chain begins to tighten. Proper adjustment is when the lower run of chain doesn't droop from the bar, yet allow easy movement of the chain by hand. Tighten the mounting nut(s) and recheck the chain adjustment. Pay attention to chain droop and readjust as needed during use of the saw. Make sure it is being properly oiled by running the saw in front of a piece of cardboard for several moments--it should throw off a thin line of oil. Hope this helps!

CHAIN CAME OFF AND NOW IT IS INSIDE OUT. HOW DO I GET BLADE BACK IN CORRECT POSITION?

If there are no cross-over loops in the chain, it would have to be badly worn to turn completely inside-out. Pull the chain together so that it forms a long loop, then apply equal and opposite rotational force at each side of the center of the long loop while you draw the two sides apart. It should cause the chain to resume the normal teeth-outward shape. Suggest replacing the chain at your earliest convenience. Make sure that it is being oiled properly by running the saw and holding the bar tip in front of a piece of cardboard--it should leave a thin line of oil on the cardboard after a moment or two of running. Hope this helps!
