I am unsure of what kind of oil to put in my 12"

Well, if it's electric it doesn't need the 50:1 or 25:1 gasoline to oil ratio 2 cycle oil.

It needs bar chain oil , which is thick and lubricates the chain. Only this kind of oil is required for your chain saw.

Remember to adjust the tension on your chain.

I need a replacement motor for a Remington

You can buy this complete saw for about 75.00 on amazon. I've heard of others burning up the field and armature in this model saw. You can buy a homelite electric at Home Depot 50-75 depending on model. Doesn't seem like it would be worth fixing, only to have it burn up again. Sounds like it needs a thermal overload to prevent damage. GOOD LUCK1

How to replace the chain?

Look on the side of the saw, where the blade/chain enter the plastic case. You will see a nut in there. Loosen the nut, then push the bar backwards towards the saw. It will put slack in the chain and you can pull it off the sprocket/clutch in there. (Use a screwdriver if you can't reach in there with your fingers) and wear gloves... even a dull chain can gouge you if your fingers slip. Once it's off the sprocket, then just pull the whole chain off. To install the new one, put it around the sprocket, make sure the chain guides are lined up with the groove in the bar and on the tip of the bar, then pull out on the bar (away from saw) to take the slack out of the chain. Holding the bar firmly to keep the tension on the chain, tighten the nut again. Bada-bing you're done. Should only take about 5 minutes to change it.

Where do we get extra parts for the Remington 3.0?

Parts for Remington saws are few and far between as the company has ceased operations. Some former dealers out on the web have a few parts left over, but you will need to contact each to find the part you need. If you are speaking of the traveling nut that rides the chain adjusting screw, it might be better to contact a machine shop that will make the part for you--not cheaper, but probably faster. Good luck!

How to put chain on remington electric chainsaw

Remove the side cover over the chain drive area. Remove the bar and clean the entire mounting area. Run the saw for a few moments to assure that oil is oozing out of the side port where the bar mounts. Lay the chain out on a bench or table and inspect it for sideways bending, damaged or missing links/teeth, and deformed drive teeth. Inspect the drive sprocket for damage as well. Clean the oil passages in the bar end including the two channels that go out to the chain groove. If all looks well, place the bar back into position and push it back. Fit the chain over the sprocket, then work it over the bar and pull the bar out to tighten the chain. Fit the cleaned cover over the case and make sure the adjustment tang drops into one of the large holes in the bar end--you may have to back off the adjustment screw several turns first. Fit the cover and tighten the mounting hardware finger tight. Make sure the chain cuts toward you on the bottom run. Tighten the adjustment screw until the chain pulls up to the lower bar edge, but still allows the chain to be moved by hand. Tighten the cover hardware and recheck the chain tension. Run the tip of the bar near some cardboard for a few moments--it should throw off a thin line of oil on the cardboard. Make sure the chain is properly sharpened. Hope this helps!

Chain fell off during use. Took cover off &

First, check the chain for any bending (sideways), or broken/damaged links/teeth. If ok, clean the drive area and the oil passages in the drive end of the bar, then fit the bar and push it back toward the saw. Place the chain over the sprocket (which you checked for any damage as well), then work the chain over the bar (make sure the bottom run of chain cuts toward you). Pull the bar out as far as the chain permits, then fit the cover making sure that the adjustment tang fits into one of the large holes and run the mounting fasteners up finger tight. Turn the adjustment screw CW until the chain pulls up to the lower side of the bar, but it can still be pulled by hand. Tighten the fasteners firmly and recheck the chain. Finally, run the tip of the bar near some cardboard for several moments--it should throw off a thin line of oil onto the cardboard. Hope this helps!

Where can I find brushes for the remington model

Remington saw has gone out of business, and finding parts can be a hit or miss experience. Motor brushes in particular are quite rare, so you need to be resourceful in finding a similar brush used in other small tools. Visit a small tool repair shop or check with Ace Hardware (our local store has a whole display box of various sized brushes). If you do find something, buy more because these saws seem to eat brushes for lunch! Good luck!

3.0 Peak HP 16'/41 cm remington

You might actually have the chain too tight. With the saw off you should be able to lift the chain until the gear tooth (tooth on inside of chain) almost lifts out of the chain bar.
I've never used an electric chain saw but if it has a chain oiler you should also check your chain oiler to make sure you're getting enough oil on the chain, if you run the saw with the chain aim at a clean surface you should see oil on the surface almost immediately.
