I cant get my coleman powermate 5000 MAXA ER to

It's almost certainly gummed up gas in the carburetor. Get some carb cleaner, and some spray instant start. Drain the gas from the tank and put a small amount of 50/50 carb cleaner and gas in the tank. Remove the air cleaner, open the choke, spray a little instant start into the carb and start it. It may fire just a couple of time. Keep the choke on to try to pull a bit of gas through the carb. You may have to do this a few times. Once you can tell some gas is flowing, open the choke slowly to keep it running until you use up the 50/50 mix. Then try a small amount of straight gas in the tank to be sure it works right, before you refill the tank. Make sure you use a stabilizing additive in any gas that you store for more than a month. good luck, Al K

My powermate 6250 only runs with the choke fully

Damned FixYa ate most of a detailed post.

If Briggs & Stratton, it will likely have two adjustment screws on the carburetor. One is for low speed, the other for full load.

Take note of how far you turn them so can return them if needed.

From your description, using the choke normally means the engine is starved for fuel so backing off the mix screw might cure it.

If not, then likely one of the jets is fouled so you will have to remove the screw(s), counting the turns as you do.

Clean the seats with carburetor cleaner (auto parts store or Walmart) and replace the screws.

They may still need adjustment after reinstalling.

How long will it run

Hello. W/D here.
You've posed a fine question, as it has several answers. We used one of these during Hurricane Katrina.
1. At idle, you can expect about 6 hours.
2. Fully loaded, you can expect to refuel it at about 4 hours without the tank being empty.

Your actual time will vary with the demand placed on the generator, but these times are best as I recall.
Hope that this was of some small help, --W/D--

No there is not a key of any sort between the rotor and crankshaft, to verify you will not find a keyway to put one into on the shaft. Just the end bolt with washer holds it on.

My generator idlers up and

check your float, could have a pinhole leak causing the float to drop causing your bowl to overflow with fuel, and flooding your carb. Also could be debris in your needdle valve also causing your carb 2 flood. That's where I started with the same prob, it turned out there was junk in the bowl and the valve had junk in it too. Cleaned up and put an inline filter in the gas line and no more prob

Wont start. put. gas in carb runs two minutes

If the engine has not been run in a while & it still has the same fuel in it, then it is most likely the needle valve.

I have a coleman powermate premium plus 6250

if you are running the engine at full CHOKE, then it is flooding the engine, but if you meant off full choke, then the carb is still stopped up. Try soaking in carb cleaner overnight after removing jet & all rubber goods. HOPE THIS HELPS.

No ac output, all circuits

I think you have a problem with the Automatic Voltage Regulator. I have ordered one from the New Company that purchased Powermate. It solved my problem.

The motor will not start...

You need fuel, spark and air...Fuel supply turned on? Air cleaner not blocked (mouse nests!)? I've seen corroded spark plug wire caps that don't conduct electricity. Pull the plug wire off, and check if it's shiny on the inside or corroded....if not shiny, clean it with a piece of emery cloth or use some fine grit sandpaper to make it shiny again.

How do i remove the rotor on a powermate PM

I have heard that you put a bolt in the end of the shaft and use a slide hammer to yank the shaft apart, There is a key, either flat or Woodruf to capture. Some use a length of chain around the bolt and a weight to yank it apart. Be prepared to catch it as it can destroy the windings. Definetly a two person operation.

It runs wide open all the time im wondering where

It sounds like the govenor spring has become disconnected or the clamp on the governor shaft has become loose and allowed the linkage to get out of adjustment. If problem has occurred suddenly it could mean the governor gear assembly inside the engine has broken and means the engine will need to be dismantrel to replace the governor gear assembly.
Check throttle linkage to see if spring is attached at both ends, one end on the throttle linkage and the other at the fixed point on the engine or to the end of the speed control lever. With engine stopped the spring should hold the throttle wide open and hand pressure on the linkage shoud be all that is needed to move throttle shaft closed to the idle position with no binding in the movement of the linkage.
If spring is OK and while engine is running, linkage should be able to be be moved to bring engine back to idle. If porblem has occurred gradually, then linkage will need re-adjusting. Loosen adjusting clamp on governor shaft, then holding linkage in wide open throttle position rotate shaft as far as it will go in the opposite direction to that requred to close throttle to idle . Re-tighten clamp.
