Cant remember my netgear network key

Reset and Restore the NETGEAR device to Factory Default Settings Problem: var js_3;function initPsDisplay(){js_3 = new PsDisplay({"info":{"controller_name":"PsDisplay","name":"PsDisplay_3","type":"FormField","w_id":3},"attrs":{"label":"","tabindex":"","field_name":"description","cf_id":"","table":"answers","highlight":0},"js":null});js_3.init();}YAHOO.util.Event.onDOMReady(initPsDisplay); Symptoms:
  • Forgotten/lost password to log into the NETGEAR device
  • Cannot access the NETGEAR device web interface

Workaround: var js_4;function initPsDisplay(){js_4 = new PsDisplay({"info":{"controller_name":"PsDisplay","name":"PsDisplay_4","type":"FormField","w_id":4},"attrs":{"label":"","tabindex":"","field_name":"solution","cf_id":"","table":"answers","highlight":0},"js":null});js_4.init();}YAHOO.util.Event.onDOMReady(initPsDisplay); Resolution:
If you have changed the default password and have forgotten the password, you may need to reset the NETGEAR device to factory default settings.

When a NETGEAR device resets, it goes back to the state when it was new — all information that was entered by hand is lost! Examples are critical things you need to get online, such as ISP username, ISP password, IP addresses, wireless security keys, and ports and services that were opened. It all needs to be re-entered.
So, have your ISP information before resetting the router.
Naturally, if you moved to a new city, or if you bought a used router, the old information in the router may not be of use to you. Contact your ISP if you can't connect any computer directly to the Internet.

Reset for most routers with a reset button on the rear panel
Write down configuration information such as IP addresses, security keys, opened ports and services, etc., that you modified. (The default username is admin and the password is either password or 1234. Try these before resetting the router.)
  1. Press the reset button on the back until the test light blinks. This takes about 10 seconds. (To avoid accidental resets, the small button is recessed. Use a pen or paperclip to access it.)
  2. Release the button.
  3. Wait for the router to reboot.
  4. Log in with the default password. If the router configuration was not cleared, try these additional steps AFTER the router has finished rebooting.
  5. Unplug the router's power.
  6. Press and hold the reset button. While the button is held down, reconnect router's power.
  7. Continue to hold the reset button for 20 seconds after reconnecting the power.
  8. Wait for the router to reboot.
  9. Log in with the default password.

Hope this helps.......

God Bless.......

How to use router without using wifi in belkin n150

This model Belkin wireless router has 4 LAN ports so you can connect a LAN cable from this wireless router to your computer.I suggest you disable the wireless in the router so no one can access your network and Internet. If you cannot disable the wireless then you can setup WPA2 encryption to secure your wireless network or just remove the aerial off the wireless router.

If there is no Wifi signal you will need to connect using the network cable from your pc to the router lan port (one of the 4 black ones, Not the yellow one) For this router you need to type www.routerlogin.net, or www.routerlogin.com to login to the router. The default username is admin and password is password. From here you can configure Wlan settings.Select the type of security you would like to use and network key.If you username and password do not work you can reset router to factory setting but pressing the reset button on the back of the router with a paper clip.

I hooked up my Netgear

With that PC still attached to that router, go to that PC's network adapter's status (right-click on its symbol that has a yellow triangle flagged over it in the System Tray.)
Go to "Status" (& sselect the "Support" tab) or go to "Network Management" (& select "Manage Connections" from the left-side menu options).
Verify that the GATEWAY IP address is blank.
If it is blank, then THAT is the problem!

BLANK GATEWAY IP ADDRESS SOLUTION: click on Properties (go back to the "General" tab, if you don't see it), scroll down & select "TCP/IP" (it should not cause an issue if you don't do this in "TCP/IP v6" but you MUST do this in "TCP/IP"), click on Properties, & click on "Advanced..." to click the Default gateways' "Add..." button & enter "192.168.0.1" with "Automatic metric." Click "Add," "OK," "OK.," "OK."

IT COULD BE A FIREWALL: Sometimes, people uninstall a software firewall such as Comodo, McAffee, Norton, ZoneAlarm, or others & there could be an associated cleanup tool available for download from the respective company's website (if it has a cleanup tool). It is also possible that the router only accepts assigned MAC addresses--which would be resolved by either adding that PC's MAC address or by disabling this feature from within that router's web administration page (available on your network at 192.168.0.1 through a web browser of your choosing.

OTHERWISE: Internet Explorer generally installs with a connectivity diagnostic utility. Just open Internet Explorer & click on "Diagnose Connection." Follow the steps & it will guide you to the solution or to the cause.

Can I use a wireless router connected to a PC to

Yes you can.

Your high speed internet modem connects to the first ethernet jack on the rear of the router and your desktop PC to the second jack.

Folow the installation instructions that were packed with your router. Install the CD when prompted. The setup program will guide you through connecting to the internet through your router and enabling the wireless capabilities of the router to access your networked computers.

If you determine that this information was of assistance to you, please rate me on the FixYa website.

Setup with a 64-bit vista system on a WGR614v9 router

Router works independent to the OS used. You do not require installation CD to configure the router. Follow the steps below to reconfigure the router:

RESET:

At the back of the router you will find a small tiny hole (which says restore to factory default settings). Press the button with the help of a paper clip and hold it down for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, please release the button and power off the router for 5 seconds then power the router back.

CONNECTIONS:

1. Connect a Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port of the router (isolated port).
2. Connect the computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports. Please make sure that there is no direct connection between the modem and the computer (either using Ethernet cable or USB cable).
3. Power off the modem and the router after making the connections.
4. Power on the modem and wait for the lights, then power on the router.

RECONFIGURE:

1. Open the browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
2. Access the router, usually with http://192.168.1.1 or http://www.routerlogin.com.
3. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive).
4. Click on 'Basic settings' from the left menu and select 'Use Computers MAC Address' from 'router MAC Address' section.
5. Click Apply.
6. Once it updates the settings then power off the modem and the router. Power on the modem and wait for the lights, then power on the router.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

I have a netgear wireless router which does not

Disconnect the router from computer, restart the computer, reset the router by inserting pin in the reset hole of router, all lights will turn off and will turn on, connect the router to the computer using ethernet cable (yellow commonly), check the IP address of the computer which should be like 192.168.1.x and default gateway should be 192.168.1.1, open IE and try to visit 192.168.1.1. If it asks for username and password, issue is resolved.
