The TV will not respond to the remote control unless it is very close and in a certain place. How can this be fixed?
The first thing to do is determine if it is a problem with the remote's transmitter or the TV's receiver. To do that, you'll need a different remote capable of controlling the TV. This can be a replacement universal type, one borrowed from someone with the same TV - or bringing your remote into a store that sells these TVs (and has them on display). Try to control the display TV with your remote.
If you can work the store TV with your remote - then the problem is with your TV. If you can't work it - then either the TV will not respond to your remote due to being a different model / year / etc. (this does happen from time to time) or you've got a faulty remote. Before leaving the store - look for a universal remote. RCA and others make them and they can be had for under $20. Check the packaging to see if your TV is compatible and buy it. Save your receipt.
Bring it home to see if it can be programmed for your TV. If your TV is supported but it fails to control the TV - the problem is likely to be with your TV. If it does control the TV, the problem is likely to be with your original remote.
I do not recommend opening the TV to try to "fix" it. Bring it to be serviced or deal with it another way (cable box, etc.). If it is the remote - which I suspect - you *may* be able to open the remote *carefully* and see if the LED behind the red plastic lens is aimed away (from dropping, etc.). If it is - bend it to point straight out of the remote and reassemble. If it works - bring the new universal remote back for a refund. If it doesn't - toss the old remote and use the new one. :-)

My daughter's Trutech TV keeps going to a black
it could be the settings on the cable/satellite box. Make sure that it is set to 16:9 turn off/disable any 4:3 override or native resolution setting, and set the resolution to 720p. Make sure to accept and save the changes. If the television isn't connected to cable or satellite box and this happens no matter what the television is connected to and on all of its inputs then it could be loose

Can't get any remote to work
Hi
To check the remotes use an old AM radio and set for about mid band. You should be able to here the data static from your remotes when you press different buttons. If all the remotes are OK, then it's probably the receiver board inside the TV.

The back light turns on for about 1min and then
This is usually a power board or a ballast (also called the inverter). You eliminated the power board so the only remaining cause is the ballast. In most cases, this part is supplied with the LCD panel only. However, you should remove it from TV and inspect each transformer visually. Many ballasts that act in this manner have a failing transformer. You may be able to cross reference the part to find a suitable replacement part. I hope this was helpful, best wishes.

The back light turns on
Hi there,
Just wondering if they were new or second hand boards you used. I would be inspecting the inverter circuit for the back-light is causing the problem for you. Short of replacing that also,I would be looking at repairing the area itself. If you have some electronics experience and the tools required...common problems you may find are
- dry solder joints about inductors, power transistors and components that run hot. The heating and cooling associated with running then turning off produces dry solder joints over time.
- replace electrolytic capacitors in the inverter stage. They can also over time dry up and their effectiveness be reduced.
The fact that it operates for 1 min makes sound like a heat related problem. There are methods of determining problem areas using freeze spray to cool individual components to determine if they are the offending part. Be careful to avoid moisture build up condensed from the air when using this method.
Gentle prodding of the individual parts and spots on the PCB with a plastic tool can also help to locate any dry solder joints. Hard to tell you exactly where to look, but with perseverance, you may get to the bottom of it.
