Power light blinking on nv53a gateway
Your Gateway laptop comes with a series of LED lights that alert you to the state of your computer. You'll notice there are blue, purple and red lights that either blink or display solidly. Each light, blinking or solid, has a different meaning. The blue blinking light on your laptop indicates that it is in Standby mode. Your laptop goes into Standby when you close its lid without shutting down the computer. To turn this light off, you'll need to take the computer out of Standby mode, and if you want to ensure that the blinking blue light does not return, shut down the computer after each use. Open the lid of your Gateway laptop and press the power button. Once Windows loads, enter your password if required. The blue light will no longer be blinking because the computer is no longer in Standby mode. Shut the laptop off when you finish using it rather than simply closing the lid to stop the blue light from blinking again. Click "Start" from your Windows desktop and click "Shut down." Change your computer's power settings to keep if from going into Standby mode when you close the lid if you'd rather not shut down your computer every time you use it. Click "Start" and click "Control Panel." Click "System and Security" and then click "Power Options." Click "Choose what closing the lid does" from the list of options on the left side of the window. Select "Hibernate" from the drop-down lists under "On Battery" and "Plugged In." Click "Save Changes." Your laptop will now bypass Standby mode when you close the lid and it will enter Hibernate mode instead. Hope it helps.

Gateway Mt6730 starts up and then message comes up
Hi,
Try cleaning the air vents too with a can of compressed air as dust can block these vents causing the CPU to overheat. The vents can be located at the back or sides of the laptop. Also a good idea is check and make sure that the CPU fan itself is working and spinning up.
Regards.
Internal microphone in gateway turned off, now will not turn on.
You may need to raise the level by going back into Control Panel -> Sound. From there, click the Recording tab -> right-click Microphone and select Properties. Finally, click the Levels tab and raise the level.
I had to do this on mine, too.
Hope this helps.
Gateway laptop will not power on
Sounds like to me, that you do have power going to your computer(other wise your lights wouldnt be on), but that your hard drive is dead.
You can take it to a computer shop and have them replace your hard drive.
Laptop comes on for a few seconds then nothing
Sounds like you may have an overheating issue with the processor. If it has gone on for some time, there could be damage to the processor and that is accounting for the short turn off time. If the system powers up on the battery alone, does it still shut off?, if you take the battery out and just attach the ac cord, does it shut off just as fast? If the unit has run hot for some time and not shut off there is a good chance it has dried the thermal grease on the processor or it has done irreperable damage to the processor itself and they may have to be replaced. First get some compressed air you would get at an office supply chain and using short bursts of compressed air, spray it in the vents, ducts, pull the cd tray out and blow air through the cd drive, open the bottom of the case and blow air in all the compartments. Blow air across the keyboard, but pay close attention to the heatsink, and it vent grills.
Internal microphone won't work
Open volume control.
When the box with all the sliders opens up click on OPTIONS (top left)
Click PROERTIES
Tick RECORDING then clck OK
The slider box will swap to the RECORDING slider box
Select the one you want to use as the recording SOURCE and put a tick in the box at the bottom.
You can also set the recording level here too.
Now click OPTIONS once again
Then PROPERTIES
Now tick PLAYBACK and then OK
You should now be back in the normal playback slider box
Whilst you were in the properties for either recordeing or playback you may have noticed a list of devices to show then as sliders tick them
