Try disabling your antivirus before connecting the device. Most antivirus prevents driver installation from some external devices. If that doesn't work, enable your antivirus and run a full scan on all your drives. Your next option might be to return it for a refund or replacement

Then try to charge it via the USB cable connected to your computer for about half an hour and after press play.
If the problem persists connect it to the pc and format the drive that is named as removable disk.

Having Operating System Windows XP, most mp3 players can be recognized in Windows Media Player 11 software from Microsoft.

After download and installation, run Coby Media Manager:
select Tools > Device Manager...: select MP-550 from the list:
click Add : click OK to have the MP-550 as your operating device.
Under Device Configuration you can set the synchronizing location and
bitrate conversion for audio.

Are you sure your system can identify your player? Try to connect it to other system if your system is WINDOWS 7. Because my mp5 player can't be indentified on WINDOWS7.

• Try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the manufacturer’s website. Make sure that you back your music up first because when you do this you are setting it back to factory settings.
• Try resetting the device it’s usually a small pinhole on the back or side of the device try holding that in for about 10 seconds.

i have a problem with my coby MP550, i lost all the files in my Coby it's very empty cause by mistake am reformatting my coby. somebody can help me please?

I-Tunes is very proprietory, the music player is encoded on an AAC codec. The coby player is going to play Mp3 codec. There is only one way to get your music off of the itunes music engine and on to your Windows Media Player, which the coby will recognize. You need to basically make cd's of your music and then reload them onto your Windows Media Player. Unless you loaded the music from your own cd's it will be an arduos task. If you loaded the music into Itunes from your own cd's then you can re-load them into WMP (Windows Media Player). I would suggest before you load the discs that you change the settings in WMP to Mp3 and not the default of WMA this just makes it more universal ... although I do believe all coby players will play WMA. But with Mp3 codec in the WMP you can encode music at a higher kbs than WMA. That is the one thing that is wrong with apple itunes is that it can only be loaded onto Ipod players..... hope this helps

STEP 2:

**Drag and Drop**
Connect your MP3 player to the computer. Some MP3 players connect directly to a USB port, while others connect to a USB port by way of a specific USB connector that comes with the MP3 player. Open the folder on the computer that contains the music files you want to transfer. This is usually the "My Music" folder, available from the "Start" menu, but it can be any folder where you save your music files. Scroll down to the song you want to transfer to the MP3 player. Right-click on the title. When the options are displayed, click on "Send To." Scroll down the "Send To" options and select your MP3 player. This can be listed as your MP3 player's name or as "Removable Drive." Click on this selection. Continue this process until you have transferred all songs that you want to your MP3 player.
--**Windows Media Player**--
If you have a large playlist to transfer, you may prefer to do it from your media player, such as Windows Media Player. Once your MP3 player is connected to the computer, open Windows Media Player. Click on the "Sync Music" tab. Drag songs that you want from your Windows Media Library over to the "Sync Music" column to create a playlist. Click the "Begin Sync" tab at the bottom once you have all of the songs on your playlist. This action will sync all of the songs to your MP3 player with one click. Disconnect your device once songs have been transferred by clicking on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the bottom-right side of the desktop tray.
