Try Doing A head-Cleaning. If you have the correct Software/Drivers et,c Installed. Try Printing A test Page, or Doing A head-Clean. You may Have Clogged Or Blocked ink. A clean ( Via Program ) may solve This.

Paper jams

85% of paper jams are caused by worn rollers . The rubber treads in the rollers wears down, making them smooth, so they won't pick up the paper. Sometimes, they are aged, which also gives them a smoother rounded texture, causing jams. The quick fix is to liven up that roller with a mixture of alcohol and soap. Damp a rag with the solution and wipe the rollers clean with it. That's make them more pliable and the paper jams will cease.

Open the Rear Cover.

If you can see the jammed paper, slowly pull the paper out.

Clean the rollers in the rear section too.

try re installing the software.

What version of windows are you running on the dell

try installing the driver again. If you lost the cd try this other installer on their support site

-choose your operating system

change the power cord of your printer.

Sometimes releasing this lock leaver causes the far side of the print head mechanism to sit out, moving the contacts ever so slightly. Release the leaver again, using a bright torch make sure the cradles are sitting correctly and the circuit board that has the contacts for the cartridges on it has not moved. this leaver holds the entire assembly together and if it is not positioned correctly, it wont work correctly!!

In the service manual write this

The internal temperature exceeded the

specified value.

- Print head

- Carriage unit
- Logic board

As technician i say first time to replace the print head,90% the prin head is the problem,if the problem persist after replace the logic board too.

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code.As a Canon technology,I usually find the code almost 90% of the time it is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move.Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper,paper clips,push pins,screws,cookie crisp,flower bud pods etc.
I have found all those things in a purge unit.The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement.A Canon Pixma MX850 Printer would still be under Canon warranty, get it into a shop and save yourself the hassel.
Incidentally, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers made in the last several years, its not just used in one model & its always a paper path error or purge unit
I forget myself so here goes, the purge unit,called a spittoon assembly,where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.That is why you will find the print head assembly parked on top of it. It also has a an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow

you can run the utilitiest to clean printheads and you can also wipe it gently with a soft cotton cloth. hope it helps

Hi sounds as if you have a partly blocked print head
do a clean from your PC in printer properties if that's no good replace the print head by going to amazon and looking for Canon PIXMA MX850 print head, easy to fit but not cheep

6A00] or Light blinking 12 times = AP position error. It's mean there is an error occurred in the AP motor during purging operation. You may need to replace Sheet feed unit, logic board or purge unit. Thank you
