I have a eg640 and my mother in law has the same eg640 for are gate

That light flashing means a limit switch issue is present. Check the switch and all the wiring to that switch.

Follow the steps in the manual if you have a manual and if you don't have one I recommend that you get one.

The Limit nuts are out of adjustment. This can be caused by the chain jumping the sprocket, usually when something gets caught in the chain or it has not been adjusted. It can also be caused by a cracked limit nut. The limit switch and nuts are located at the top of the operator (under the cover) and has a lid held on by a single screw. Loosen the screw, and remove the lid. Inside you will see two cogs on a threaded shaft with slots cut into them. These slots are there so the lever will keep the nut from spins and allow it travel down the shaft as the shaft turns. The limit nuts eventually contact the limit switch, stopping motor. Look closely at the sides of the nut to make sure there are no cracks allowing the limit nut to spread open and slip on the threaded shaft. You may have to clean them to see it. If there is a crack, usually found between the brass nut and a slot, you will need to replace the limit nut. Go ahead and do both nuts at the same time as it is a challenging process and you will want to do it only once. If the nuts are not cracked, simply press the bar holding the nuts in place back with a screwdriver and spin the nut towards the limit switch until the gate stops about one to one and a half inches away from the post. The gate stopping point can vary even more than one and a half inches on slopes so if it starts happening again, give it even more space. Finally, a new limit nut may look different than the old one. The old ones with the brass nut encased in plastic had more cracking issues than the new all plastic nut shown here. Good luck

Since you have a battery and it is a sliding gate, I will assume you have a Roboslide model by Elite. The battery has to be charged in order for the gate to work. The charging comes from a transformer or a solar panel. Check to make sure these have power coming out of them. Most gate operators use a transformer and if the two wires providing the voltage touch each other, it will blow the transformer. If you have a volt ohm meter you can check this. You might need to use the AC setting as well as the DC since some are 18 volt DC and others are 25 volt DC. You can do the same for a solar panel but only use the DC setting. If this is not your issue, then make sure it is your battery draining and not something binding in either the motor or the gate. Finally, it could be the motor going out. Simply hook the charged up battery directly to the motor to check it. It should respond strongly. Reverse the leads to make the motor go the other way. Good luck.

I have a brand new Ramset 300 electric gate opener. My problem is in the early morning when the loop opens the gate it will not close unless deactivated manually. It does not happen later in the day with my GMC truck but happens early in the am with my husbands Toyota Prius. Please help. What can be the problem?

well it seems like you have checcked almost everything. there are two things that come to mind that might be your problem, check the backup battery, messure it while on charge with a multi meter, the reading should be between 13.4v and 14.0v. if this is fine then if you have beams or loops installed try replacing them as they might be faulty.

The photo eye sensor is defective of is out of its correct posistion!

The memory could have been somehow corrupted. I would suggest that you call in an experienced person to reset and reprogram the open/close positions.

Hi Steve, it is not a pressure pad, it is a ground loop, which is just a wire going a few times in a loop that can pick up the magnetic mass of your vehicle. This 'change' in field is then fed to the control box when the car enters the field and the control box need to react on this. So it can be the ground loop wire or connections that are not working anymore, since it can be damaged by heavy vehicles, or the control box is not handling the information correctly. I would get a specialist to check this for you. Good luck.

Switch leads for master and slave to see if its a wiring issue. if the same gate fails to operate, it may not be your controller.

Try your local fencing supplier as most now include a list of gate openers in their stock
