Why am I always instantly
I keep getting disconnected fro xbox live. this has been a problem since I first got xbox live, it takes 30 minutes or something like that and then its disconnects me, for example if im playing call of duty multiplayer it will take me out of the the game. I have a xbox router thingy that is plugged into the back of my xbox and wireless box thing. could I have a easy simple question to get rid of this problem thank you

Perform a Linksys reset:
The easiest method of resetting your Linksys router's password is to reset your router back to the default factory settings. This is done by simply holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset, it must be reconfigured. Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password "admin", in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to "admin" on some of the newer Linksys router models).

You want a program for installing your router. You do not need one. The software that linksys provides is more trouble than it is worth.
In your browser's address field, type 192.168.1.1
User name : admin
Pass : admin
You can configure the router now.
Can't remember user name and password
If you can't remember the user name and password of your router the only way you can correct this is to reset it by doing this following procedure.
To reset the router using a pen or paper clip press and hold the reset button of the router for 15 seconds while power is ON and then after that power off and power on the router and it will be back to its default settings with default user name and password of the router which is admin and you just need to reconfigure the router for internet connections.

Linksys router is a standalone hardware and is not dependent on operating system and it will work with machine running win 7 provided that the network hardware present in your machine is properly installed with driver in windows 7.

I need a driver for my linksys wireless router
You really do NOT need a driver for your router (Routers do not have drivers.) All the CD contains is a setup wizard and the User Guide.
Go to Linksys' webpage
here and look into the FAQ's. There are some articles on how to setup your router with Windows 7. You can also download the user guide (under Downloads) and follow the steps outlined in Chapter 5.

I forgot my password how do i reset it
On the back side of the router , you will find the small reset button ( red coloured hole). Just press that button for 30 seconds. release the button. Unplug the power to the router and plug it back in. Waite for 1 minute.
Once you reset the router , it will come back to the factory default settings.
You will need to reconfigure the router according to the Internet service provider.
That means you will need to set up the router for the Internet.

If you cannot remember the passphrase, you will need to reset the router to factory standard and then reconfigure your settings. On the WRT models, there is a pinhole on the back of the router.
Push the pin in with a pen for about 10 seconds, then unplug the device. While still holding the button in with the pen, plug the router back in. Wait for about 20 seconds, then release. The router should wipe all settings and complete its boot process. You should then be able to reconfigure the settings. This time, write your passphrase down and keep it in a secure place.

Internet isn't a direct pipeline from the source to you. Streamed content passes through many other computers on its way to your computer via your ISP. If any one of them is carrying too much other traffic, the streamed content may be interrupted and pause. Streamed content is "buffered" to help avoid this, but sometimes it's unavoidable.

Make sure connections are correct. Cable modem to router with Ethernet cable. then connect router to computer with another Ethernet cable and see if it works.

This will fit your linksys router, although I do not know if radio shack will carry this. Your best bet would be to order one online, or go to a computer store and see if they will order one for you.

So your laptop is not able to go online. but your desktop is able to go online that means there must be a problem with the wireless connection.Check the wireless settings on the router.
