Acer aspire 6920 restarts with charger plugged in, but not on battery? WTF
It could be the device that controls the current on the machine, or even the motherboard. Regardless, it's going to have to be worked on by someone with a little technical know-how. You could just order the replacement parts on eBay and fix it yourself if you're up for the challenge. The first part is what controls the current. The second part to replace if the first doesn't fix it is the motherboard itself (it has a current in it, and controls current flow within the device to different parts to allow data flow)

Always get your drivers
from the manufacturer of your Laptop, Notebook or Desktop.
If you were to log on to the
manufacturer's
web site, usually one is able to download if
available, by model number,
All available Driver
downloads
as required.
If the driver is not
available, perhaps your manufacturer does not support the OS you are
installing.
This is the best way of ensuring up to
date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!
I hope this helps.
Cpu fan is not working, how can I monitor it ?
Hi,
usually there is a monitoring interface in every BIOS, where you can find FAN speed, CPU temperature and so on.
Turn off your laptop, turn it on again and press F2 key several times right after pressing the power button. If it is not leading into BIOS, then it has to be another key (e.g. DEL, F10 or whatever), you have to look at the display at first few infos displayed after power up. Once you are in BIOS, you should navigate to the menu item called administration or maintenance..
When I have turned on my Acer Aspire 6920 computer
The first bit with the MAC address is there because it's trying to boot from LAN and it is exiting because no IP address is assigned to it by the DHCP. If your laptop is connected to a network, you can use this feature to image the laptop across the network with an imaging software like Norton Ghost.
The last bit, "Operating System Not found" means that you do not have Windows or any other operating system installed on your laptop. At this point, you can either reinstall your operating system or use the recovery disc that came with the laptop to restore it back to it's factory settings.
TRIED TO LOGON BUT USER
Hi bridgetharri,
This issue will happen if the User Profile in the Computer is corrupted. You will need to edit the Registry to fix it. It is recommended to backup the registry before start editing it.
- Restart the Computer in the Safe Mode (press the F8 Key while restarting the Computer to access the Safe Mode.
- Please open the Run window, type Regedit and press the Enter Key.
- Click on "Continue" (Vista) or "Yes" (Windows 7) when prompted.
- To backup the registry, on the Registry Editor Windows, click on the "File" option, select "Export".
- At the bottom of the open "Export Registry File" window, please make sure that the "All" option is selected.
- Please type any file name and save it.
- The next steps include the editing of the registry.
- Please access the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList Key
- You can click on each folder name on the left pane of the Registry Editor window to open each folder.
- In the left pane, when you expand the "ProfileList" folder, look for the S-1-5..... folder (SID key) with the long number that has .bak at the end of the numbers.
- In the right pane, look at the ProfileImagePath to verify that this is the user account profile that has the error.
- You may have another S-1-5..... folder (SID key) above it with the exact same number without the .bak at the end of it.
- This is if you have two S-1-5..... folders (SID key) with the exact same numbers, but the second (below) one has the .bak at the end of the numbers.
- In the left pane, right click on the first (top) S-1-5..... folder (SID key) that does not have .bak at the end of the numbers and click Rename to add .bk to the end of the numbers.
- In the left pane, right click on the second S-1-5..... folder (SID key) with .bak at the end of the numbers and click Rename.
- Remove only .bak from the end of the numbers and press Enter.
- Now go back and Rename the first one with .bk to .bak now at the end of the numbers and press Enter.
- In the right pane of the one without .bak now, right click on RefCount and click on Modify.
- Type 0 (number) and click on OK.
- If you do not have RefCount, then right click on a empty space in the right pane and click New and DWORD (32 bit) Value, then type RefCount and press Enter. This value for this entry will reset and return back to the original value after you have restarted the computer and logged on to the account.
- In the right pane of the one without .bak now, right click on State and click on Modify. (This value for this entry will reset and return back to the original value after you have restarted the computer and logged on to the account.)
- Type 0 (number) and click on OK.
- Close the Registry Editor Window and restart the Computer.
- Now, you will be able to login to your User Account.
Hope this helps..
Good Luck!!

Acer aspire 6920 just went off yesterday abruptly.
Take the battery out and short the pins. If this doesnot work than seems your power adapter is problem. It is not charging the battery. Check if your power adapter is OK. If it is ok than looks like the power jack pin is open. Take it to repair center to have the Jacks fixed

Laptop keeps on shutting down unexpectedley
If it shuts down randomly then you may have a virus. If you notice that it only shuts down when you hold it in your lap or on the bed then it means that it is overheating and you need to let air circulate in the area of the cooling fan. Also, if you recently "looked inside" the laptop and your forgot to put back a screw, that hardware device may disconnect itself and sending your laptop so a forced shutdown in order to protect itself.
The microphone in my acer 6920 is not working....
i know it sounds crazy ....
but check whether you have connected the jack to mic port (usually the pink )....if it is ok...
next go to start | run | type "mmsys.cpl"
it will bring you the audio options...
go to voice option .....
choose your device....
and click the test hardware....
and also do not forget to check whether the main volume is on or not....
this should solve your problem
I am wanting to restore my laptop to factory

This may be different fordifferent machines, but the most common keys to hit are"Ctrl>F11."
