Purchased new HP OFFICE JET J3680 last evening at Staple's, Hanover, Pennsylvania. Attempting to register it online with its OCR software as suggested. Does not appear to be anything displayed for such a registration on the pages!
"Registration Card" displays to register online at www.irislink.com/registerHP.

Have been having the same problem, but after some searching found this webpage. I scan a document and I cna see it on page but before it will let me accept or change it, it gives me the error exception:
SEH Exception 0x7c97eec8
Address 0x0012f44c
load address 0x03190000
This generally indicates a driver error.
Download and run the Scan Diagnostic utility
The Scan Diagnostic utility checks the physical connection between the device and the computer and address the issues with the following components of the scanning software:
If an error condition is identified with any of these items, a red X ( ) appears next to the item. If there is no error condition, a green check mark ( ) is displayed next to the item. The utility is equipped with a Fix button to correct the error conditions.

My printer says Cartridge error, Refer to device documents to trouble shoot, I can't print, what do I do. Thank you Deb
try to reseat the cartridge in the printer
if that fails clean the copper contacts on the cartridges themselves. if that fails then you may need to replace the problematic cartridge

hp officejet j3680 all-in-one printer no scan options
Disconnect the USB Cable from printer
Unplug the power cord from printer ( while printer is on )
Holding the power button on printer, connect it back.
Later connect the USB Cable. try to scan. IT should work.

I am using HP Officejet J3608 all-in-one, it shows me that "Cartridge error : Refer to device documentation for troubleshoot" Pls give me a solution for this
This could be a faulty cartridge or you may have installed a expired cartridge , try replacing the cartridge with a new one, if that doesnt work, then try a hard reset.
A hard reset = unplug printer from the wall,
press and hold the power button for 45-60 sec then plug back in and turn on.
That should clear the error.

"cartridge error: cartridge on right is not intended for this printer" i have replaced both catridges, using only hp 21 and 22 and it still reads the same cartidge error. i have also cleaned the terminals.

my J3680 keeps dis[playing "Cartridge Error:" " "Refer to device documentation for trouble shooting: but there is nothing in the manual about this error message..
Remove both cartridges, switch off then on, printer detects cartridge missing, install cartridges one by one & observe which one showing faulty, replace faulty cartridge..end..
