Samsung LN32A450C1H damaged screen.

I agree with Terry. But in most cases the LCD part is almost as expensive as the whole unit so replacing it really is not the best option not unless you find a used part somewhere in E-Bay or a local shop.

How do you turn it on and off closed captioning

This TV does not support Closed Captioning, However, you may be able to enable it from your cable box if you have one. To do that you may need to contact your cable provider. Most of the times its a simple option in the settings. Alot of times CC comes pre-enabled on the cable box and all you need to do is press the CC or Closed Caption Button on the remote. Tv went dead

You need to inspect the power supply first, look for blown main AC fuse and any bad caps with domed tops, see example of failed Samsung TV here:

Tv doesnt turn on blinks red

Hi ldmsdad_05,

This is an indication of out-of-regulation in the power supply section. The very common caused of this fault is the dried-up/leaky electrolytic capacitor in that section. It will drop the supply from normal voltage and will disable the unit and blinking error appear. Sometimes it has a bulged/dome at the top but not all, it is better that you have a capacitor checker/tester to determine its condition. Also, bad solder joints can produce the same symptom, it is hard to spot, you should use table lamp/portable lamp for finding the cold solder. Secondary reason of fault is the open fuse/fusible resistor in series with the output of regulator IC/transistor, shorted/openRegulator IC/transistor, shorted zener diode(all are in the power supply section) and the microcontroller. Best that you check the output voltage of each regulator to determine where the fault came from and narrow the job.

If you don't have necessary tools and test instruments, and can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the problem. Don't attempt to work in the power supply if you don't know the safety precaution of handling it, there some stored electricity enough to hurt you with a little mistake only.

Also check if your unit is under warranty /extended warranty, avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free. Don't open the back panel, this will void the warranty.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.

Just fix this 2 years old TV today due to bad cap in the 5v power supply, I would suggest you to take a look in the power supply module first.
See my pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Samsung%20LN32A330/
This is really bad that expensive TV failed due to cheaply made caps. I would not recomend SAMSUNG any more to my firends after seeing this.
Please post back what you find, it can be problem some where else also.

Try unplugging and plugging it back in. Was there lightning, and was it attached to a surge protector?
Try pressing the power button repeatedly or even slapping the back of the tv (try googling this).
