Much like saying my car will not start----If total dead look for the fuse---if not able to open set etc consider having a technician look at the set and get an estimate for repair.

I have seen about a dozen questions here in the last ten days with several models with the same type of problem, Sony of course says they are not aware of this issue---typical for them to deny until smoke turns to fire.....

this could be a defective panel --is it like this on all inputs

If the problem is same with different input devices and you have ensured there are no loose contacts in power outlet, RC jack, cable and sockets, the TV needs servicing.

If you have tried using different input devices, looked for loose contactsin power outlet, RC Jack, cable and connectors, the TV might need service.

Good day!!!!That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..1. Open the back cover of your TV.2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

You have an internal power problem to the TV and something is overheating. Get it looked at by a tv repairman.

Download its service manual. It will have all details to this fault.

Fully powers off or stays on with Sound on?Sounds like something wrong in your power supply. I believe Sony has a 2 year warranty?Is it older than 2 years?

l would contact (listed here as a Sony) customer service to see if a reset is available that will set all back to default.........

More than likely you have a bad LCD panel. This cannot be replaced. However, there are some instances where either the D4 board or D5 board is at fault. These can be replaced. I would keep your receipt thow in case you have to send the boards back.
