Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ80U Plasma TV - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Most likely is the power board,so I hope you got a good one! The next would be a short on the SC board. The main digital board could be defective in mis diagnostic. Disconnect the SC board and see if the blink code changes. if it changes, the main board is good. If you have a good power board,I vote for a short on the SC board to be checked
Panasonic TH-42PZ80U doesn't turn on. 10 time blinks
Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

I have a 42 inch panasonic plasma tv, I have great picture and sound on hdmi input only
From a quick look at the tv spec it would seem to cope with most inputs so I wonder if it may be due to input type selection. Mine on some inputs have sub options on its inputs which would be in the screen menu (mine has rca sockets and can become component or normal video input).
You say you can hear sound but no picture which sugests there is a signal of some sort (tv's and video's inputs become live when a video signal is present but if its poor in some way will not show) but allow sound through.
If the game is old then it may not conform to modern standards so present a blank screen. its hard to say what may be the problem but I think input selection or an incompatible signal looks to be a possible answer (if you have your plug ins correct)
Hope this helps.....
Panasonic Plasma TH-42PZ80U HDMI do not work after lightning storm
I don't have a solution, unfortunately, but your problem is nearly identical to mine. It even seems to have happened on the same date (7/27/12)! Do you live near Dener by chance? Anyway, we have Direct Tv, and ended up with 2 fried HD DVR boxes and 2 TVs on which the HDMI connections don't work after lightning hit close to our house on 7/27. Those boxes were replaced, as was part of the Direct TV dish. The only difference is, whereas on one TV component connections (red/white/yellow cables) allowed the TV to work normally, on the other (my 50 inch Panasonic Plasma TCP50S30) even the red/white/yellow cables did not work. Now I'm scouting the net for tips on what else to try before I possibly have the Panasonic looked at, which I am hedging on doing since I got it for only $600 new in the first place. Have you found out anything else since you posted this? Good luck to you...
My Panasonic tv went from black to snowy. What do I do to fix it
well snow pix is telling you that all your video ckts are good , and if you get snowy sound then your sound ckts are good , now you need to look at your tuner ckts , but first ck your cables and connections , substituting with a known good cable is the best way of testing it

Programming Notes
• If your device does not respond to the remote after trying all codes listed or your brand is not listed in the code list, use the Auto Code Search method to program your remote.
• Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may be another code in the code list that performs more functions. Try other codes from the code list for more functionality.
This is a trial and error procedure; and quiet time consuming. You might have to check different codes said for your device.
