I from what I've seen your LG 42LG50 TV does NOT support wifi connectivity. CNet has a review on it - and has a specifications page - and there is no mention of it there or in the user reviews. Additionally, the LG website indicates the TV has been discontinued, and makes no mention of wifi either. Since the TV was a 2008 vintage, I would expect to see a lot of hype about the TV being wifi capable - and this is simply not the case.

We ordered one from encompassparts.com but they don't provide the screws! We're still trying to solve that problem.

It can be bad power supply or it detects shorted circuits (such as shorted circuits in backlights inverter boards) so it goes into safety shutdown mode.

Tv have incomming broadcasting siganal cable problems,call ur cable or satalite provider check out the incomming broadcasting signal cable wire.

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers for spare part supplies as required.

Just Google the manufacturer's name and follow the links. Make certain you are directed to the manufacturer's web site as some search engines direct you to other sites and they charge for the information that is normally free of charge.

Unplug the set from the wall then install the USB video and plug TV back in and to it on, this time it may recognize the connection.

Unfortunately there isn't a menu feature for this on LG LCD tvs..there is on LG plasma tvs. Screen burn is the fate of plasma tvs which is phosphur burn, whereas IMAGE RETENTION is the problem on LCDs after prolonged static image displayed caused by prolonged cell charge polarization.
What you could do is connect your PC monitor output to your TV serial input:
Create an image that all is white on your PC. Open Paint and create a big size screen and save it as JPEG.Right click on your desktop>properties>screen saver tab. Choose my picture slide show> the settings>browse the picture you made and modify any settings your prefer your your screen saver.

I have had the same problem for a couple of Months . Bought my lg in March 2009, just had it diagnosed as the Screen . Apparently they are not Lg screens but a version called AUO optrix . my tv is a non economical repair and i am waiting for Currys to get back to me . let me know if i can be of any help.
