I just purchased an Acer X1160 Projector and
Your computer is probably using the projector as a second screen instead of displaying a copy of the laptop screen.
The quickest way to confirm is to try moving your cursor (mouse) off the right-hand side of the screen. Does it then show up on the projector? If so, then you can grab and move windows back and forth between the two screens.

make a cleaing, if it still is full white dots, it should be problem of DMD chips,buy a 8060-6038B DMD chips and instal it. only cost USD184

Sean ,the problem is not the bulb but is the digital micromirror device (DMD chip) is aging,that sends pixels directly to projected image.So you can replace it depending on the price you will compare.if expensive then buy a new Data Projector.

You will have to go into the settings/display menu. There are image options to select from in there. If you are celing mounting then select that and if you are setting on the table select that setting. Either way it is a setting for how it is being used.

You will most likely have to get the DMD chip replaced. I suggest you get a quote from the local Acer agent as to how much it would cost for this repair.
White dots on the screen
Need more info. But initial suspicion is there is a problem with your projector.Are they stationary and always in the same position? You may have bad pixels.Are the dots there with no signal going to the projector?What is connected the the projector? Detail the video path - try all the sources. The dots still there and in the same position on all sources?It is probably your projector.If some of your sources are fine - the problem might be from a connected source.Hope this helps.
