If you are sure you have erased all files in all folders then it would not do any harm to run FORMAT from the menu.

This may well clear your "Memory Full" message and get your device working again.

Audio files need the right codecs to play them. Windows media player generally needs these to be added. Download the K-Lyte CODEC pack from the Major Geeks website. Always use the advanced mode when installing them, as they do like to change your browser settings or change your browser completely if you do the normal way.

well, i resolved this myself by going to the sub-menu, and formatting the recorder to its original state. thankfully, i backed up the files on my computer first, so i didn't lose any data, although i did have to go in and re-set all my preferences on the recorder.
lesson: don't MOVE files from recorder to computer. copy them instead, and do the actual erasing from the physical recorder itself.
i don't know if this was the most elegant solution, but at least it did get my recorder up and running again. i'd love to hear if there is a better resolution out there.

You should connect your recorder to PC and then you can try to recover your files and folders with Easy Drive Data Recovery software:

check how many different folders you have set up. just because you erase all in one folder, there can be other folders.
Find the manual reset for reformatting the recorder.

You may want to call Olympus Customer Service and see if it is part that is available to be sold to consumers. Their parts department may be able to sell it to you directly. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3

Try to format the memory, if the device support formatting function, use this tools. But if there aren't any formatting tools, you can format your memory card via PC.
Put off your memory card and format it (you sure there is no file anymore, do you?).
After formatting complete, put in your memory card in your recorder again.

Try formatting the device to see if you can restore it back to factory default settings. Go to the menu and choose the format option.

NOTE:This will permanently remove any recordings you have on the device .

If that doesn't work, then you will probably need to send it to Olympus for repair.

if you have a menu option, go in and perhaps even into sub-menu (I have a WS210S recorder. I found the format option and reformatted it. Now it works

While recording,press the disp/menu button until the bar graph appears

The two parts are each shaped like L's. While holding the release button, pull the two parts away from each other.

Tossed It and got a new one , All data lost, my suggestion, upload your files right away and my lesson learned, don't rely on a stupid machine stick to good old fashion paper or the old school recorder at least if that dies on you you still have something tangible. and by the way nobody ever responded to my request so I take it cant be fixed.
