Your extension is hardwired to 1 jack, if you plug in somewhere else you'll be lucky if the jack is active with another extension. Someone needs to re-wire your extension in the phone room to your new jack. If it won't activate but says Initialize, then that jack probably has a live fax line or analog extension, but not a digital line that works on your phone.

If you have the speakerphone option enabled in system programming, you may just have the mic turned off. Try pressing Feature then 1 while the phone is idle. The mic light should light up if it wasn't already lit.

From the attendant console or receptionist phone (100/101 or 10/11):Dial Feature, 80, Feature.

On the attendant phone:

1. Press the Message key on the Attendant Add-On Console.

2. Press the DSS key on the Attendant Add-On Console that is associated with the station where Message Waiting is to be canceled.

Have someone call your phone. While the indicator light is flashing, press the up arrow on the volume button.

There is no user programmable way to change the name display on your phone. On NEC systems, you have to go into programming mode and access the memory block for extension names. Sorry.

A common problem on the NEC Electra/Elite phone system is that users will pick up the phone and start dialing numbers while hearing intercom dialtone which sounds identical to outside line dialtone. If the user dials 4 then 0, DND is set on that phone ext. The easy way to clear this problem is to go to the phone that is in DND, lift the handset or press speaker and dial 4 then 2. You should get a confirmation tone after which you can just hang up.

with this nec phone. you need to unplug it all . stick a small screwdriver on the feature button to pop it up and off the board (since its stuck) and plug it back in. to reset the phone.,

Remove the Line wire from the back of the phone and then plug it in again. See if the DND function is still on. If yes : pick up the handset or press Speaker key and then press the corresponding DND Softkey (the buttons right under the LCD). If you don't see any DND text on the LCD of the phone try to move to another pair of Softkeys by pressing the last button (see the >> on the LCD)

The Display can be swapped.... if you can find one.
Otherwise no programming is retained in the telephone. Swapping phones will not loose any data programed to that jack/Extension number

If it is in the system speed dial directory you have to go one by one and type "Feature, Redial, bin # where it is stored (system 00~79, station 80~99), Feature". This should wipe each Speed Dial listing.

If it is in the voice mail unit you may want to go phone by phone and log into the box. You will need to redo the following:

Personal Greeting
Recorded Name
Spelled Name
Directory Listing
Security Code
