Hey Anon.. WOA...compressed propane is not something to mess around with..I would go back to the Home Depot and talk to the store manager,,(take your receipt and all other paper work for proof), ask him who to see about your issue.. tell him you are afraid to use your NEW grill.(Start at the top!).. you spent good $$$$ and you deserve an answer..or a new grill..

We need a bit more info. Gas or charcoal? How are you trying to light it?

Weber no longer offers or support conversion kits. If you do any conversion it will VOID you warranty! That said, if you can find the parts online for the LP version of your grill you can convert it yourself if you are mechanically inclined. You will need to change the JETS and the GAS REGULATOR. Unfortunately they do not sell official Weber Gas Jets alone. You will have to by the complete LP Manifold, valves and all as well as the Tank Hose with Regulator... Make sure you are comfortable with all of this... Leak testing etc... You may have luck finding parts at: http://www.ereplacementparts.com

replace the module. the only way for that to happen is if the button is damaged so the small metal strip inside is connecting or the spring is damaged.

Turn off burners. Turn off gas. Disconnect regulator from propane tank. Reconnect regulator. Turn on burners Turn off burners. Turn on propane SLOWLY. Turn on burner and ignite.

The valve on the tank has an internal valve that will not allow you to release propane into the atmosphere. It must be connected to a regulator line in order to open.
It sounds like your regulator has failed. Remove the regulator assembly, inspect it carefully for blockage or hose kinks. If there none, try replacing the regulator assembly.

Turn off propane. Disconnect propane tank from barbecue. Open burner valves for about 20 seconds. Close valves. Reattach propane tank. Slowly open propane tank valve. Turn on burner and ignite

If it's like mine, you literally hang the propane tank on a hook. The gauge is basically a spring and as the propane is used and lightens the tank, the spring contracts.

First, make sure the battery you replaced is facing the right direction. Generally the Positive (+) end should be facing you. Also, check for corrosion in the battery holder. If you see any, WD40 and a Q-Tip works well to clean it. Also check the peizo ignitor tip(s) (Where the spark is to light the burner(s) ) for grease buildup. A cotton ball and alcohol will clean those. Check the wiring from the ignitor module to each spark igniter to make sure it is secure. If not tighten it.

All of the above should help you troubleshoot and hopefully solve the problem.
