It will give you the most recent state, but to change it, look on the bottom row for the button labeled "Change State/Country." That outta do it.

Please be more specific. There is a calibration screen where black dots are shown and you press them to calibrate the touchscreen. Is this what you mean? If you press them and nothing happens, your touchscreen may have failed and needs to be replaced.

You can try to power down for hard reset(disconnect battery) and after connect again or reset to factory setting.

When you went to TOOLS did you press SETTINGS and then MAPS and at the bottom of the screen MAP INFO.

When you press map info if the maps are still installed they should appear there. If there's not a tick beside the map name then it's unselected. Pressing the map name gets it selected again and could solve the problelm.

If you do need to download the maps again it may be possible, depending on how long it's been since they were downloaded or updated. (Usually it's possible for around 6 months after they were originally downloaded.)

• Go to www.garmin.com and click the myGarmin tab at the top of the page. Log in using your username and password.
• Click on the myMaps tab at the top of the screen and you should see your maps displayed.
• Under your latest update you should see in blue writing a link called DETAILS
• Click on the link and then at the next screen click on DOWNLOAD AGAIN

When you're following the prompts you'll come to one which gives you the option to download to the Satnav, Satnav and computer or Computer. Select Computer or satnav and computer. Then if you have a problem again with the map it will be easier to install it from your computer. If you find that your map cannot be downloaded again buying a new update, if there's one available should solve the problem.

This is often caused by a failed firmware upgrade. The majority of these problems can be resolved by reflashing the factory firmware while in pre-boot mode. We can resolve this issue for you.

Calibrating the Screen:

1. Turn off the nüvi.
2. Hold the upper-left comer of the screen white turning on the nüvi
3. Release the power key when the Garmin screen appears.
4. Continue to hold the upper-left corner of the touch screen for 30 seconds until a white screen with "Press dot" appears.

Yes and you may be able to download a map for free , if the unit has never been registered with Garmin.The Nuvi 2xxW series has a limited internal memory and the latest maps are fairly large in size and may not fit on the units internal memory. The map may have to go on an SD card.The no detailed maps warning would have come up on the screen at the store as well.

Do a soft reset by pushing the power switch to the left and hold it there for 10 to 15 seconds. The unit should turn on.
