Nuvi 2555mt lost voice
First, do you hear beeps when you press a selection on the screen? If yes, then your speaker is OK and the audio circuits are OK in the unit. Make sure that you have a voice selected in the voice menu. Some units have an audio mixer screen and provide different volume settings for navigation (voice) and system (beeps). maybe the volume for the voice (navigation) is set to off. If you don't hear any beeps when you touch the screen AND you don't hear a voice, make sure that the sound isn't set to be muted. If the sound isn't muted, you may have a defective speaker. Garmin freezes up on the first screen
Two things :1. First a hard reset. Turn the unit off andunplug it from a power source. Then press and hold the lower right hand corner of the screen. While hold you thumb or finger here turn on the unit until you get the prompt erase all user data, tap yes and allow the unit to restart. Next we need to update the firmware because alot of the original firmware was buggy were the units would freeze up.2. http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp go to that link and downlaod garmin webupdater and install it. While its downloading connect your unit to your pc via usb cable. Once the program is downloaded and installed, run it and follow the onscreen prompts to update your unit. Hello,It is possible as long as the map is Garmin compatible.However even with a trucker navigation map installed, the nuvi 260w will not function as a trucking GPS as the routing and IQ of the nuvi 260w does not have the capability to operate in this manner.The nuvi 260w does not have a trucking mode to allow for the input of specific truck information like truck and trailer length and gross vehicle weight to use as factors on determining the best route for the specific truck/trailer combination.I would recommend using a GPS specifically designed for trucking like the Garmin Dezl.http://www.gpscity.com/garmin-dezl-560lmt.html
My garmin doesn't recognize an address
If you are having problems finding a particular address, try some of
following tips. In some cases the address may be listed as being in a
different city other than the one that was chosen. When the unit asks
for the City Name, try choosing Search All Cities. If the address is
listed under a different City Name, doing this will allow the unit to
find the address. Also, when entering a street name, it is important
that you leave off any direction or label. For example, if the address
was 2536 SW Melrose Place, you would enter 2536 for the house number and
only Melrose for the street name. Using the house number and
city/state, the unit will fill in the direction (SW) and label
(Place).
If you are still unable to find the address, the
mapping may not have the address available yet. Please report this to
our Cartography department using the Error Report Form which can be
found at the following link:

Try doing a soft reset on the nuvi. If there is a reset button on the bottom, press and hold it until the nuvi powers back on. If it does not have the reset button on the bottom, slide and hold the power switch to the left for at least 10 seconds.
You could also try running the Garmin WebUpdater.
Download and Install WebUpdater.
If the problem cannot be resolved, it may be necessary to return the unit to Garmin to claim for warranty.

Which update are you trying to run?

How can I register my
Hello there,
Before you can register your nuvi,you will have to create a user name and password. If you do not have any yet, it is not a problem.
Go to www.garmin.com select the product registration in the support link, it will prompt you for the type of garmin nuvi you have, when you fill in that information, it will give you the garmin web updater link to download for your computer, that is where you will create an account from and password.

I recently purchased the Nuvi260
To use the extra SDCARD storage for your map should work. It's a bit of a complicated area to pull this through and requires quite a bit of reading to get it done.
Basically the install can be done from a PC / Mac with the Garmin Maps installed on there. From the Mac/PC it's installed on the SDCARD in your NUVI.
Below you find the link to Garmin's forum - read the posting where it says "
Reply from Garmin International". It contains a PDF with all instructions in there. Register at Garmin's forum to download the PDF - this is the same Username/Password as used with registering the Nuvi at Mygarmin.com.
Map Install to SD-cardAs an extra remark - please note that installing Garmin Maps on a PC for use with Mapsource requires at least 5Gb of disk space of the C-drive. When this is a problem - here's a way around
clearing disk space on a PC for Garmin Map install.
I cannot switch from NA
You need to go into maps settings and you'll see all the installed maps there, click which one you want to use.
We downloaded a European map
You need to download the map to your compute rather than the SD card. When downloading the default destination is the satnav but you can change it to your computer. When it's installed to your computer you then click the windows START button and in the list of programs you'll find a GARMIN folder with a program called MAPINSTALL. Connect the satnav to your computer with the SD card in. Run MAPINSTALL and select the SD card as the destination.

It will not turn on,
Probably
a burned out fuse on the power cord. Unscrew the end of the 12v plug
and check the fuse with an OHM meter or just replace the fuse. Check
that you have 12volts at the gps end of the cord.
My nuvi 260w seems totally
I believe that you either have a software issue and in this case will be solved by a reset ...(either soft reset ..or a hard reset to the factory settings ) , or if this does not solve it ..you have to check the charger cable and all that may affect the power on the unit ..
Here is the resetting instructions ..and remember the inconvenient is that you will loose all the user settings ..Im not sure about the maps..

1 Inspect the bottom of your Nuvi
260. According to the owner's manual, some models have a small "Reset"
button on the bottom. If yours does, you'll use this to reset the Nuvi
260.

2 Press and hold the "Reset" button for several seconds, until the Nuvi powers off and powers back on.

3 Slide the power switch on top
all the way to the left to reset your Nuvi if it does not have a "Reset"
button. Performing this action resets the system.
Factory Reset

1 Slide the power switch to "Off."

2 Press your finger against the screen in the lower-right corner. Hold your finger in this position.

3 Slide the power switch to "On"
to turn the Nuvi on. Continue holding your finger on the screen until
the pop-up window appears. When it does, press "Yes" to reset your Nuvi
to its factory settings.I suggest to select no for the first time..so that you do not loose data and see if it gets back to function ...If it doesn't..than repeat the procedure and select yes for the delete user data ...Another thing is to keep the ON slide about 15 seconds if it do nothing ..
Another thing ...some units have a reset button on he bottom ..but it is covered by a sticker ...

To upgrade and/or update your Garmin GPS, do the following:
- To update your Garmin device, go to this link https://my.garmin.com/maps/chooseDeviceType.htm?
- Select your device type.
- It will request to install the Gamin Communicator Plug-in.
- Make sure that you connect your Garmin device to the computer before proceeding to install.
- After the installation, it will automatically download for an updated map.
Note: Sometimes, there are no available updated maps.

Unable to see maps it
The pin that it is asking for is a security pin that can not be reset. It is to prevent a stolen GPS from being used. If the person you purchased it from can not get you the pin then you must contact Garmin and they will have the information on file if the unit was registered. You most likely will have to send the unit back to Garmin to be reset. I have attached the link to Garmin. Thanks for using FixYa
