Forgot my pin and havent
Hi,
The problem that you're experiencing is a security feature
called
Garmin Lock. It's found in most Garmin electronic devices to deter
theft. Outside of remembering the PIN, you have limited options. Either
you can go to the same place where it was initially changed. It would
unlock and then you could reset. But other than this, i am sorry there
are no bypass.
Take a look at :-

I've been trawling for unanswered questions; this information may
be too late for you (or perhaps it may help you resurrect a useless machine which
you have put away) but it will certainly help others searching for advice with the
same problem.
You have Garmin Lock activated on your nuvi: there are only two ways you can unlock it.
1. Enter the PIN code (but you clearly don't have it or you wouldn't be reading this).
2.
Take the unit to the Security Location you chose when activating Garmin
Lock: it will then unlock without the PIN code and you can then either
reset the PIN or disable Garmin Lock. The Security Location should not
be the owner's home address, but many owners ignore this recommendation.
Many owners choose their workplace or a close friend or relatives
address for this purpose.
If neither option works then your unit
is useless unless you send it to Garmin with proof of purchase. Garmin
charge for the service and if your maps are not up to date then it's
really a waste of money as the investment would be better spent on a new
unit with current mapping.
I hope that you manage to either fix
your problem using my advice or at least can decide whether to abandon
the unit and buy another.
No voice directions even if sound is set.
First
press the speaker symbol and check that the volume is not down fully or
that the mute box is not ticked. If it is press the mute box to untick
it or increase the volume. Otherwise follow the instructions below.
1.
Press Tools, then press Settings (or Locale on some models), then press Language. You will see a
bar for Voice. Press Voice and select a different voice. If this
doesn't solve the problem it's most likely because the voice file has
become corrupted. To replace the corrupted file.
2. Download webupdater from http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27
and connect your satnav to your computer. Install webupdater and your
satnav will look for updates. After it's finished it will give you an
option to download voices. Click the ones you want and press next. The
voices selected will be downloaded to your satnav.
When you have removed the satnav from the computer you'll need to select a voice again as described in para 1 above

My GPS keeps reseting itself! I turn it on, the
A file might have corrupted on the system.
If you uploaded some POI file just before the crash, it might be a defective POI database. You can delete it by booting in test mode (turn device off, press on the lower left corner, keeping pressed turn the device on, wait for the test menu to appear. If the unit stays on, you can connect it to a computer and see its memory, locating the poi.gpi file in the POI folder. Move it on your computer (just to have a backup; one never knows), safely remove and disconnect the USB device from the PC and power cycle the Nuvi).
Assuming it's not the POI, you will have to perform the Firmware Restore on your device (or you might install the newest firmware from Garmin, as well). When in Test Mode (see above), the Garmin Web Updater function should work: http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp
Also, you may try a Master Reset:

Unit turns on and starts loading then shuts off.
Hi,
This could be as simple as a damaged or uncharged battery. Try fully charging the battery on mains or USB first.
Plug into computer and charge for a while and the unit should work fine.
Or call the Garmin customer support to get help...

Or... your software may have become corrupted (for whatever reason) and needs to be updated/reinstalled. To do that, you may go here:

Probably a stolen Garmin GPS. When I was living in Indianapolis last year, they were breaking into cars all thru my neighborhood just to steal GPSs. Cost me $225 to have my driver's side window replaced.
Cost me $180 to replace the Garmin and my iPod. Should've left the car unlocked and let them have it. Would've been cheaper.
No, I can't help you bud. Don't know how to clear that password.
Maybe you can send it back to Garmin and they can do it.
Do you know where i can update my garmin nuvi
First you'll have to register with www.garmin.com. When you register you'll be asked to create a username and password. Note it down as you'll need it anytime you go to update in future. WHen you've registered, click on my garmin, then click on my maps. IF there's an update it will be shown there. Click on get update and follow the download instructions. You'll need a broadband connection as the file can be very big, 4 Gb for Europe, and a credit card to pay. The update costs around 80 euros. If you don't have a broadband connection you'll have an option of getting the update on dvd.
IT SAYS THAT MY MAPS ARE NOT LOADED
Press Tools, then Settings, then Map info. The map you use should have a tick beside it. If it doesn't press it to tick it. Restart your satnav and the map should load.

4. Click "Start," "Programs," "Garmin" and " WebUpdater" to update your firmware and your maps. Periodically check and make sure your software is current.
Also, in case you don't know how to reset your garmin nuvi, you can follow the steps below: There are two types of reset;
Performing a Standard Reset

2. Hold the switch in the position for at least eight seconds.
3. Push the switch to the right to power the Nuvi back on.
Performing a Factory Reset
1. Turn your Nuvi off by sliding the power switch to the left.
2. Press your finger against the bottom right corner of the touchscreen. Hold your finger in this position.
3. Slide the power switch to the right to turn the Nuvi back on. Continue to hold you finger against the screen until you see the factory reset prompt. Tap "Yes" to perform the factory reset.
I hope this helps
