Looking for Map upgrades for Garmin Nuvi GPS
I've looked for free map upgrades for my Garmin and could not find anything. I did find a lifetime map upgrade deal for around $75. It allows you unlimited upgrades for as long as you own the GPS. Go to the garmin site and search NUMaps.
Nuvi 2555mt lost voice
First, do you hear beeps when you press a selection on the screen? If yes, then your speaker is OK and the audio circuits are OK in the unit. Make sure that you have a voice selected in the voice menu. Some units have an audio mixer screen and provide different volume settings for navigation (voice) and system (beeps). maybe the volume for the voice (navigation) is set to off. If you don't hear any beeps when you touch the screen AND you don't hear a voice, make sure that the sound isn't set to be muted. If the sound isn't muted, you may have a defective speaker. I want to update my garmin 260w with free updates
Garmin provides free updates through their website for the first 60 days after a new unit is put into service. After that, you'll have to purchase map updates. (Software updates are free, though.)
That said, you should first point your browser to www.Garmin.com and go through the process of downloading and installing their browser extension. You might have to reboot your computer or restart your browser to finish the installation.
Return to Garmin.com and register your nuvi. At some point, it will ask you to connect your nuvi to the computer via the USB cable. Do so. Your computer will also go through the process of installing the drivers necessary to view the nuvi as a storage device (so you can download photos and the like).
Once everything is up, the browser extension will tell you what the status is of your nuvi and of its maps. If you're entitled to a free map update, it will allow you to do so. If you're due for a software update, you can do that, also.

Sometimes this problem is caused by the power cord not being pushed fully into the back of the satnav even though it feels like it is. Pushing it in further usually solves the problem. If the power cord you're using is not a garmin this could also cause the problem.
