First thing would be to remove cover and look at fans, dirt or dust on one will lock it up.Google the model number with Parts and a good idea if one or more are identical is replace or even swap them.The lamp fan and main fan should be easy to see with back removed and are plugged in so if an exact replacement is obtained a few screws and plug and back in business.

sounds like the converence is out, and that is why it is shuttin g down on you, and it is going to run around 350 to get repair. ConvergenceICs' needs replaced.

There are fans in back of the unit that keep it cool. If one of them wont start it says that you need to check the fans. In order to do this you need to take the back off the unit and see how bad the dust is. YOu should get a vacuum cleaner hose and a brush and clean out the unit and then see if you can spot the fans. They are black and about 3 inches square. See if you can turn them by hand. You can then place the back on the unit and try it and see if the message goes away. If it does not then you need to figure what the interlock is that is on the back of the set that prevents it from starting with the back off. There is usually a tab that has to trip a switch. You need to defeat this and start the set while watching the fans. IF one of them wont start then that is your problem fan. You can take it out and replace it very easily. IF all the fans start then you have an issue with the fans sensor that detects if it is running and that could be a big problem .

What lights are blinking? Let me know to diagnose problem.
