My hl72a650 samsung tv turns
Hello,
You need to check the output voltages of the power supply to see which one goes off. It may be due to short circuits some where, If otherwise, It's the problem of overheating in the power supply board of the TV.on the power supply board of the TV there are few capacitors and IC.any of this ic is got short or may be weak.so due to this when you start the TV the current passes from electric outlet to the power supply board of TV.but when the current passes from that weak/faulty part at that time current gets stopped or slow and the board overheats and TV shuts off. this is a common problem faced by many other users too.the possible option to solve this issue is to check the power supply board by a meter and continuity tester and replace the faulty component on the board which is short due to which power supply board is getting overheated.its bit technical job but yes its not at all a costly repair to do or get it done by the technician. for required parts it can be easily available from local electronic hardware shop. This will help in solving the problem...
Samsung dlp Hl72a650 wont turn
You could be having a shorted rectifier or shorted chopper transistor . Either way it calls for the work of a experienced service engg:
3 lights flash and TV
Since your TV is a DLP, it could be the lamp or the color wheel. The flashing lights are a service code. Some TV manuals will describe the code and others require a service manual for the codes. Either manuals can be found online at a reasonable price. Here is a site I use.

My sharp DLP allows for the user to replace the lamp pretty easily so there is a chance you could be able to replace yours if that is the problem. The color wheel is a different story. That will probably require a service technician.
Good Luck
3 lights on the front flashing. no picture no
The 3 flashing lights is a 'self test' result that says the backlight bulb has gone. You can try turning it off for a few minutes then try again. However, Samsung have had problems with this set and the 3 blinking lights so if it is still in warantee get it replaced asap.
Samsung dlp dnie
just from personal exp the easiest thing to do may fix or at least make it better. if u see puffed and leaky caps on power supply replace capacitors. if really dusty clean. both previously mentioned and both helped me. my tv was completely dead and replacing caps got it to power back up and work. it takes two trys to come on but works great so far. then i cleaned every nook and cranny with a small vacuum hose and different size/angle brushes that could be attached to hose. i only took out the psb board with caps and didnt touch anything in there that i could mess up. just cleaning helped enhance the colors. right now this is the best picture ive had on a tv and it was completly dead when i got it.
