Hello, I have just purchased

Probably an auto tec installed the recepticle on the wall or in the electric pannel. in home electric the black wire and the red wires are hot. In automobiles the black is ground. You should have 240 volts between the two flat connectors on the plug when its pluged into the recepticle.

Why when i push the start button on my dryer and it tries to start spinning the drum but doesnt. sounds like doesnt want to start spinning

There is a belt on the drum that can break or come off the pulleys. You can access it by checking for screws that hold the whole top of the drier down. If there are none, pry up the top with your hands by lifting. You will be able to see the whole inside of the drier. If you are going to be reaching into the machine, unplug it first.

Washerleaks when filling why

Good Morning Friend, I understand that the washer on your Frigidaire laundry center, model# FEX831F, is leaking water while it is filling. Listed below are some options that you can check first.
1)There might be a loose hose connection either at the faucet or on the washer. Check and tighten the hose connections. Also, make sure that the rubber sealing washers are installed. If the rubber sealing washers are not there, this can cause leaking. 2)Check and make sure your houses drain pipes are not clogged. If they are, unclog the drain pipes. Contact a plumber if necessary. 3)Make sure you are not using too much detergent and are using "HE" detergent. If you are either using too much detergent or not using "HE" detergent, this can cause oversudsing, which can cause leaking. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your washer status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful. -Best Regards- WP

Washer leaks on floor from drum top while centrifugating

Good Morning Andres, I see that you are having trouble with your Frigidaire laundry center, model# FEX831F, and the washer leaking water from the drum top onto the floor. It could possibly be that your washer door is either not closed all the way or is not sealing properly. I suggest checking to make sure that the door is closed all the way. If it is, I would check the seal, and see if there anything that might be damaged and allowing water to leak from the drum top. If you are unable to find anything that might be allowing the water to leak out, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician. They will be able to diagnose your appliance and see why you are having water leak from the drum top. Hope this is helpful. -Best Regards- WP

How do Ichange the water filter

Good Afternoon Richard, this is JK. Thank you for your post! It appears that you have posted your inquiry regarding "how to change a water filter" on a Frigidaire Laundry Center (FEX831F). Slow filling

If it is slow to fill u need to check the hoses at the back of the washer. There is a screen where the hoses hook up to the washer. Very often they get clogged and need to be cleaned. \I use a old tooth brush to clean mine.

Washer will not start

The valve is the best place to start looking, you should get a meter to measure voltage and ohms. There is nol guarantee that the valve you used is the right wattage so it is of no help.

Frigidaire model fex831fs4 will not drain or spin

My problem was a little different but I want to post this for others that might experience the same. My Frigidaire Washer/Dryer Stack Combo Model FEX831FS4 was not draining and had a humming/buzzing noise when it got to drain/rinse cycle. This is usually and probably caused by a small sock or thin or small underwear that got sucked out the top and into the drain hose. I have no idea why they did not design this with a rubber flap like most washers to protect from items going up and out but here's how you fix it.IF your unit is having this issue STOP and don't try runnin drain/rinse cylces anymore or you may damage the water pump and have to buy a new one. I think I damaged mine from trying to drain the water so many times with a sock clogged in there... but so far it is working anyway, just with a buzzing noise. HERES THE FIXYou need to TAKE OFF the FRONT COVER and REMOVE the ITEMS FROM the HOSE leading to the WATER PUMP. The water pump is on the bottom front left and theres only TWO SCREWS to get off the FRONT COVER of the washer/dryer. They are on the bottom by the feet. Have someone tilt the unit backwards and unscrew them with a phillips head and then pull the front cover down and off. There is a rubber snap pin in the top center of the cover but it will come loose as you pull down. In order to get at the water pump you do NOT need to pull the washer/dryer out, you can get at everything from the front. However it might be a wise decision to unplug the power since water will be draining everywhere. First siphon out all the water in the tub, whatever you don't siphon will immediately coming rushing out once you remove the hose from the water pump. I would UNPLUG the electrical connector on that water pump and tie it up out of the way because even if you siphoned the water there will still be water in the hoses and probably under the washer tub some.Disconnect the hose that comes from the tub to the water pump. That's where I found a small children's sock clogging the pump. Dry off the water pump plug connector pins if they got wet (where you removed the plug from) and reconnect the electric connector. We tried many times to run the drain cycle before taking the washer/dryer apart so your water pump might be shot as I think mine is. Now mine always makes a buzzing noise as if it's wore out from being worked with a sock blocking it's inner part. You might need to replace your water pump.

Washer fills, agitates, but wont spin or drain. When it is supposed to drain, there is a loud grinding noise. Any ideas?

see this causes and fix it. God bless youWater Level Control / Pressure Switch his is the most common reason a washer will agitate but not spin. To check this on most , with no water you should have continuity on pins 7&15. With the tub full 7&16 should have continuity. This video walks you thru checking another type of switch. Lid Switch This can be the problem for the washer not spinning . Most whirlpool styles this will effect both agitate and spin but some models will still agitate but not spin. This is easy to check. You will need to remove the switch, this varies with model type but the testing will be the same. When the lid is closed the switch should have continuity when the lid is opend the switch should have no continuity. If it differs replace the Lid Switch. Timer To check the timer you will need to refer to the wiring diagram or disassemble to access the motor. Check the leads from the timer to the motor when turned to a wash cycle this should have 120 volts. If not replace the Timer, if it does the timer is not the problem. Motor To check the motor you will need to disassemble the washer to access the motor. First you can check the motor windings, to do this remove the plug and connect ohmeter to terminals. Refer to the tech sheet or service manual for the proper reading. Check motor for shorts by connecting ohmeter to terminals and motor housing should have no continuity. Connect voltmeter to motor wire connector and check for voltage. You should have 120 volts, if you do and the motor does not run replace the motor. If it does not have power the problem is elsewhere. Belt If your washer is a belt drive type make sure the belt is tight. Check for black soot from belt wear. Replace if it has excessive wear or broke. Motor Coupler This is a fairly common problem with direct drive machines but inexpensive and easy to replace. The Motor Coupler transfers power from the motor to thetransmission. The following video will walk you through the replacement of the Motor Coupler. Transmission The transmission does not usually fail. To check this on a direct drive remove the motor and then turn tub inside. If it spins freely with no noise theproblem is elsewhere. If it is noisy it needs replacing this is expensive and depending on the age of your machine you may not want to replace it. On a belt drive remove the belts and spin tub.see the diagrams9_30_2012_10_53_44_pm.gif9_30_2012_10_54_04_pm.gif
