The belt and clutch are probably worn or broken. Instead of a normal brush roller belt like most vacuums have, Dyson designed these with a plastic clutch between the motor and brush roller, so you can turn the brush off for hard surfaces. The belt from the motor to the clutch is replaceable, but it is the belt least likely to wear out or break. The belt to the brush roller, which is the one that takes all the beating and encounters all the dirt and grit is plastic welded into the clutch and cannot be replaced. You have to replace the entire clutch when that belt goes. On a normal vacuum, this is a $3.00 to $5.00 repair. On a Dyson, the part is around $25.00 retail, and you have to tear half the vacuum apart to get to it. You don't need much in the way of tools to repair it, as most of the vacuum simply snaps together, although you have to take care that you don't break the plastic parts getting them apart. You do need a torx screwdriver to remove the clutch housing. I've done two of these in the last week, both with the same issue.
Sometimes on mine, the red clip that's at bottom of canister doesn't always click back into place, so when you press the red button, it just slides out missing the catch. How i resolve this i pressed down the red button so the clip was sticking out, then with my thumb pressed it in, and it clicked back into place, now been fine with each empty.
It may need to be cleaned. Hair can get caught in the brush and can make it hard for the brush to turn. Try cleaning it out. It may need a new belt, a new power nozzle motor or the whole nozzle housing needs replaced. It also could be the power nozzle is not getting power from the vacuum which could be a short or bad switch. There are many areas that one or more could be causing the problem. First determine if the problem is in the power nozzle itself or the vacuum then eliminate the possible causes one at a time until you determine the cause. It's much more difficult to find the cause if there is more than one issue causing the problem.
It could be the motor of the powerhead, it could be the power head isn't getting power from the vacuum. You will need to troubleshoot all these areas to determine what the problem is.

Its most likely Its not cleaned out properly. Mine did the same, washed it again and ran water through it, let it dry for over 24hrs it now works. Smelt like wet dog though. I put a piece of kitchen roll soaked with scented oil in the clear drum, ran it for 10mins. Now smells beautiful.

DC24 includes a belt engineered to last the lifetime of the machine in normal use. It's protected by a sensor which shuts off the brush bar for protection if something jams it in use. Usually, following each of the steps shown in our video guide will allow you to reset your machine:
Press the red reset button on the cleaner head firmly with something like the eraser-end of a pencil - you should hear and feel a click. The brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so recline it into the normal vacuuming position before testing it.
Please note, the silver-coloured switch next to the red/on off switch should allow you to shut off the brush bar when cleaning hard floors or delicate rugs.

Hi , if i am correct the brush bar is driven by a small electric motor inside the brush bar. It sounds as if the motor has gone or the small printed circuit board has a fault. You will have to get it checked.
Don't now if you now wher they aer one is at the top off the dust bin and the other is in the ball remove them and use warm warter in a blow add a bit of washing powder and put the filters in to soke for 10 mis take them out and take them out side and hit them on something hard not to hard to bracke them you should see bits come out you repeat this if you whish to then rise them out and lave some warm to dry do not use befor they are fully dry or it will pop it back out hope this helps
