Ice bridge to thick

there is a timer, adjusted by seconds, first make sure the condenser coil located under the ice bin is clean. the harvest is initiated by suction pressure once the pressure switch makes contact the time delay will time out initiating the harvest. you can fine tune the bridge with the time delay.

I have a Ice-o-matic, model

Pretty sure it is a bad valve. You can unplug the unit and disconnect the wires to the purge valve then plug the unit in again and try to make ice like that. If the valve leaks through with no power it is obviously bad. You note that you unclogged the valve in the past. I have taken a few of these apart and sprayed the internal diaphragm with food grade silicone lubricant but this is a very short term fix. I always wind up ordering and replacing the valve.
In the mean time you could plug the purge hose for a day or two. I would not run it too long like this because you will get a mineral build-up in the unit. The reason for the purge is that minerals do not freeze and wind up settling in the sump. Eventually enough mineral deposits build up to circulate and clog up the water tube and deposit on the evaporator plate. Some minerals are always going to stay in there and cause problems but with no purge they will REALLY build up.

Machine is making a solid sheet/block of ice on the evaporator plate and no cubes are dropping. The sheet just keeps freezing larger and larger. Any trouble shooting to perform? Top off The R404a?

your evaporator should not be covered with thick slab of ice. If it is, the ice serves as an insulator and the freezer temps will not go down to the required 10 degrees or so for the icemaker to operate properly. if ice is forming on the evaporator then the self defrost cycle is fubar - check the defrost timer and/or heat element for operation. Charging refrigerator is not recommended since the amount of refrigerant is extremely critical for correct operation- not like an AC unit.. Check all else before low refrigerant can be blamed.

Ice getting to thick and not dumping

go to the freeze timer which has off and on dip switches. take some freeze time out by moving the first switch to off this will shorten freeze time. Also check the harvest assist solenoid and plunger when it go's into harvest. make sure the machine is cleaned and check the cube plate to make sure that none of the plates are not loose this will cause ice to freeze between the loose spots and will not let ice come off the plate.

ICE-O-MATIC ICEU220HA2 bridge too thick. Is the

The bridge thickness on this model starts with the low pressure cut-in control that then in turn starts the timer. To start with if you have a low pressure gauge that you trust what I do is take all of the time off of the timer and unplug the water pump. Then start the unit and watch the low pressure gauge to see at what pressure the harvest starts. an ICEU220 with R-404A should cut in at 45psi. Once that is set plug the water pump in again, put about 400 seconds on the timer, see how thick the ice is after 2 cycles and adjust as needed.

To big of icebridge

The ice bridge thickness of this machine should not be over 3/16" check the harvest assist solenoid and plunger during harvest to make sure it is operating. also check freeze cycle controller you will see it has some dip switches with off and on above the switches with numbers to the side of them you can take some freeze time out by starting at the top and moving the switch to off then let it make a batch of ice to see if this made a difference. The less time the thinner the ice. Time added to the controller the thicker the ice.

Mine alway,s freeze up and well stop working

Cleaning should be performed every 6 months. 1. Harvest problems may occur if the following procedures are not preformed every 6 months. 2. Remove the ice machine front panel. 3. Make sure all the ice is off the evaporator. If ice is being made, Wait for cycle completion, then turn the machine "off" at the ICE/OFF/WASH selector switch. 4. Remove or melt all ice in the storage bin. 5. Add recommended amount of NICKEL SAFE ice machine cleaner to the water through according to label instructions on the container. 6. Initiate the wash cycle at the ICE/OFF/WASH switch by placing the switch in the WASH position. Allow the cleaner to circulate for approximately 15 minutes to remove mineral deposits. 7. Depress the PURGE switch and hold until the ice machine cleaner has been flushed down the drain and diluted by fresh incoming water about 15 min. 8. Terminate the wash cycle at the ICE/OFF/WASH switch by placing the switch in the "OFF" position. Remove the splash curtain and inspect the evaporator and water Water spillway to assure all mineral residue has been removed. 9. If necessary, Wipe the evaporator, spillway and other water transport surfaces with a clean soft cloth to remove any remaining residue. If necessary, remove the water distribution tube, disassemble and clean with a bottle brush, Reassemble all components and repeat steps 2 through 7 as required to remove residue. 10. Turn off ice machine water supply and clean the water trough thoroughly to remove all scale or slim build - up. If necessary, remove the water trough to reach all splash areas and float.11. Prepare 11/2 to 2 gallons of approved ( EPA/FDA) sodium hypochloride food grade sanitizer to form a solution with 100 to 200 ppm free chlorine yield. 12. Add enough sanitizer solution to fill the water trough to overflowing and place the ICE/OFF/WASH switch to the WASH position and allow circulation to occur for 10 minutes and inspect all disassembled fittings for leaks. During this time ,Wipe down all other ice machine splash areas,Plus the interior surfaces of the bin, deflector and door with the remaining sanitizing solution. Inspect to insure that all functional parts, fasteners, thermostat bulbs (If used ), etc.are in place. 13. Depress the purge switch and hold until sanitizer has been flushed down the drain. Turn ON the ice machine water supply and continue to purge to the diluted sanitizing solution for another 1 to 2 minutes. 14. Place the ICE/OFF/WASH switch to the "ICE" position and replace the front panel. 15. DISCARD THE FIRST TWO ICE HARVESTS. If this dose not help your problem let me know and we can solve it.

First i would clean the machine per manufacturers instructions with nickel safe cleaner and sanitizer. When the plates get dirty it will cause ice to hang on to plate. Also check the thickness of ice if to thick it will not come off plate.

Ice to thick

your machine should have a bridge thickness of 1/8 of an inch. you can go to the freeze timer and take some time out to shorten the freeze cycle buy sliding the switches to on and off. example if switch is set to on at 18 then you wont to turn that switch to off and turn the next lowest number switch to on until you achieve the right thickness of ice. if this dose not work then replace freeze timer.

What can i do or do i have to bring it in for repairs?

There are three easy things to look for. First in the center of the ice grid there is a plunger rod that pushes the ice out. Need to make sure that is all the way in on start up. Second the ice curtain has a tab on the top right that has to be behind a metal switch tab that sticks through the side on the unit. Third on some units right in front of the water trough is a thin metal rod, that is actually the bin thermostat. If there is any ice laying on top of that rod it will shut the unit off at a full bin.

Water stays on constantly without shutting off

Water solenoid is bad and needs replacement. Unplug it and see if it still fills. If yes it's bad. If no, you have a bad timer.
