The image sensor is defective. There is no quick fix other than replacing the image sensor.

i had that problem with mine, and it seems that the shutter was stuck, so that the photos are not good anymore =( if your camera is still under warranty, maybe you can go for a check with them, but i guess it's quite an old camera right? ;) Still...this camera still can be used to take videos, and also photos in a dark room with the camera's flash, it's not totally dead hehe Hope this helps =)

The specs ay that you can use an SDHC card. Anything more advanced won't work.

For Canon, you need the ZoomBrowser EX software. It should be on the CD that came with the camera. If you lost the CD, you can download the software for free on the Canon site. I always use the USA site, because they have great support. Just login on the site click on the tab Support and ask for the software, Then you goto the menu, whose Windows 7 and you can download what you want. Sometimes they need your serial number, but most of the time they not even asking for that. Success

If the images are on the memory card OK then it's a screen problem Either a connection problem or a broken screen.

It is a problem with cameras that have set up for some time with out use. An old repair shop owner for Nikon told me that if a camera is not used the electronics have a tendency to fail. I had several cameras do this over time. The ones I used on a reglar basis have given no problems. Heat and dust will ruin your investment. Dont ever pack one away in an attic or trunk. They just cant take it. IF you can find a repair shop that will even work on a point and shoot camera give them a try an see if will look at it for a reasonable cost. But I bet they tell you to just get another one. EOL end of line products. I hate the cheap goods made today. Good luck

Hello there! Maybe it's not about the settings, you should need to change the LCD of your camera. Maybe it's broken, because mine also is like that.it also happens to me. What I do is I came in a nearest repair shop. or if still you have the service warranty, you should return it to the store you bought. Hope it helps! :)

Perhaps you check the settings. If the camera is on nightshot, or manual, with a long shutter time or wilde open diafragma your pictures are all overblown, or stripes come from lights. Put the camera in automatic. The main dial on the green camera logo, and try again. If this does not work, Please let me know how the settings are on your camera. Success

The camera is not supposed to require an extra driver unless your computer is using an operating system lower than Windows ME. There is a driver for Windows 98SE, but none for the original Windows 98, Windows 95 or Windows 3.x. The camera is supposed to appear as an external USB hard drive on the computer.

The A470 works with SD and MMC cards which max out at 2GB, and with SDHC cards, which max out at 32GB.

You might have a problem with the sensor; Maybe you can test it; try taking photos in brightly to see if it have the same problem. (or using the flash; I suppose taking videos will not have any issues?)

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
