Canon PowerShot A470 Digital Camera - Page 3 Questions & Answers
Why in the screen view "card locked" ?
Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
I get blury pictures
Possible that the CCD is a suspect. Try and allow the camera to be switched on for a long time, keep free from moisture or near a lamp to dry.If not best is to take a referral for consensus without tampering without proper jig, spares and tools.
Camera window keeps telling me that the camera is not detected
How about try these again
1- Uninstall all of the software related to Canon.
2- Install the drivers for your Canon ONLY.
3- After installing the drivers, plug your camera to a different USB port. (test your USB is working okay by connecting another USB device)
4- TURN YOU CAMERA ON
5- The drivers for your camera will be installed.
6- After it is finished, click start, then computer. Now you should have one Icon starting with canon.....
If you see this icon, double click on it. You will find one or more folders which contain the pictures stored in your camera. You may now download, delete Etc.
You either have not done above steps correctly, or your cable or your USB port is bad.
Good Luck!!!!!!
My computer won't offload my pictures from my camera.
Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as
Picasa.
I am transferring images to
My solution is to unistall your current canon software that holds 15 canon components in your computer. You will find them under system task and select remove programs. After you have uninstalled the program, reinstall your "Canon Digital Camera Disk" and follow their prompts. Now you should be able to transfer images again as per normal.I have answered this question in detail under another question postered by "whitecar631" under canon "save folder not found" canon sd1100.This worked for me, but I don"t know how to prevent it happening again. I do know the day I lost all "my pictures", I had previously deleted a large file in my documents. I also experienced "save folder not found" when I tried to transfer images from my canon ixus 100.I was lucky enough that I had all of my original SD Flash Media Cards, so could transfer all my photos again. I have since put all my photos into labelled folders instead of dates and images.Hope this helps, it appears to be a problem in the canon program. Joyce
Canon powershot A470 problem when
The shutter flex cable inside the lens is broken. Happens to all cameras from Canon A4xx series. At day the images will be overexposed with horizontal lines on it, but it could look better at dark / night. The FLEX has to be replaced. Canon doesn't supply new flex cables for these, but there are some cheap copies on ebay. But as these brake very often, I wouldn't suggest you investing money in this camera, because it will brake again sooner or later.
I have charged my batteries for about 4 hrs and inserted into camera but after few minutes it indicates low battery signal
If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

That's the battery that keeps the clock going when the camera is turned off.If you need to replace it, refer to the instructions in the "Replacing the Date Battery" section of the manual (beginning on page 159 in my copy). If you need a manual, you may download a copy
