i don't have a solution but mine is the same ,when i record is ok .... when i want to take a picture is white and horizontal lines appear on photo :( i whink i will break it XD

Perhaps you check the settings. If the camera is on nightshot, or manual, with a long shutter time or wilde open diafragma your pictures are all overblown, or stripes come from lights. Put the camera in automatic. The main dial on the green camera logo, and try again. If this does not work, Please let me know how the settings are on your camera. Success

The A470 works with SD and MMC cards which max out at 2GB, and with SDHC cards, which max out at 32GB.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Easiest way...get a card reader and download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop.

I had this problem too, I think it's the shutter problem, it doesn't close
when a picture is taken, therefore, causing the over exposed photo...I've sent it back to canon, still waiting for the reply...

You might have a problem with the sensor; Maybe you can test it; try taking photos in brightly to see if it have the same problem. (or using the flash; I suppose taking videos will not have any issues?)

not sure what you are saying "cannot take a picture outdoor" - can you take a picture indoor?if it's just a month old then return for warranty service - do not try anything yourself it may void warranty

Sounds like it could be a symptom of low battery problem.If the charge is good, you can also try to reset settings to default from the main menu.
