Bunn VP17-1 Coffee Maker Questions & Answers
Do you have to unplug coffee maker when not in use?
You dont have to unplug unit but you can if you like. Most people leave them plugged in. This keeps water hot and on the ready when you need coffee. When the unit is unplugged there is a waiting time before the water comes to temp. If your unit will not be used for weeks at a time, I would unplugged it, but if used regularly
I would leave it plugged in.
Why does it drip really slow?
Perhaps you need to get rid of the calcium hardness?
Did you try putting vinegar in the water container, and after switching it on for a little while, switching it off and leave it for an hour or so.
Then repeat this and when the water goes better, twice ore three times plain water. to clean the machine form the vinegar.
There are also special sachets with a likely acid you can use.
No pot or instructions, how
You should be able to pick up a replacement/new pot at your nearest Restaurant Supply store. Make sure you get a 64 oz./ 1/2 gallon pot.
Before plugging in your brewer, unscrew the sprayhead located just above where the filter basket sits and replace the basket, pour 3 pots of cold water through the opening on the top if the brewer is empty. This brewer has a reservoir that holds about 2 1/2 pots of water at brewing temperature when heated. Make sure you put an empty pot under the filter basket after pouring in the water. Water will flow from the brew basket when the reservoir has reached its capacity. Once water flows you can then plug in and energize your brewer and replace the sprayhead. It will take about 15 to 20 minutes for the brewer to reach brew temp, you will hear the heating stop. Put an empty filter and a dose of coffee (I recommend starting with a heaping measuring cup of drip ground coffee) into the filter basket, lightly shake it level, replace the basket and pour through 1 full pot of COLD water in the top. For best results pour the brewed coffee into a pre-heated thermal server if you plan on holding the coffee for more than 10 minutes or so.
Enjoy!
I cant see my BUNN BT Velocity date code on my brewer I was told it is 6 digits... it starts with what number??
To locate the date code on your BUNN BT Velocity brewer, you can try the following:
- Check the bottom or back of the brewer: Look for a label or sticker on the bottom or back of the machine. The date code is typically printed on this label.
- Inspect the sides or inside the brewer: In some cases, the date code may be located on the sides or inside the brewer. You may need to remove any panels or covers to access the label or sticker.
- Consult the user manual: If you have the user manual for your BUNN BT Velocity brewer, it may provide information on where to find the date code. Refer to the manual for specific instructions or contact BUNN customer support for assistance.
If you are still unable to locate the date code on your brewer, I recommend reaching out to BUNN customer support directly. They will be able to provide you with accurate information and guide you in finding the date code on your specific model of the BT Velocity brewer.
Bunn my cafe mcu red light flashing. Water does not heat. Water will run out if brew button pushed, but of course it is cold
I have the identical problem, and I noticed it this morning after there were 2 very brief (seconds) power outages the previous night. Reading around the internet I read that the fuses inside the unit are the likely culprit, and need to be replaced. You can buy fuses made by others, for this unit. But not from Bunn. And there are video instructions around that show how to do it. The fuses are crimped on, not soldered. Mind you, I haven't tried to do this, yet, but that's what I read. Good luck!
