The notch has two positions. when you pull it out completely that is the time adjustment. Now when you pull it just slightly that will be the date setting. Turning it clockwise will change the day and counter clock wise changes the date number. Hope that helps.

I got my watch from a third party w/ out manual cause it was cheaper. Took me awhile to figure out.

It is not a question of "size", you want to know what type. Take your Nixon watch to a jeweler who will open it, identify the type, and may be persuaded to replace it.

The person who changed the battery has probably disturbed the hands and disconnected it. Take it back and make them fix it or have it fixed. Same thing happened to my Swiss-made Tissot. Spent $7 to have the battery changed, cost me $1,000 watch. They don't have the parts for my Tissot any more.
