I am in the military and am using adobe 6.0

The military recently upgraded their versions of Office and Adobe. Try downloading and installing Adobe Reader 9.0. You can get it free from www.adobe.com.

Can not make attachments directly from software

You didn't say which email program your using but quite possibly its a setting issue. Check that your security options allow attachments and what file types are alloweed. Also some anti-virus security suites will cause the same issue.

Hope this helps

Compatibility

Hi,

If you are using Acrobat Professional 6.0 in MS Vista then Its not yet supported and has compatibility issues. However some people reported that if you install it in compatibility mode for windows XP it will work, but so far i haven't found it evident.

You should upgrade to Acrobat Professional 8.1 which is compatible with windows vista.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Access to PDF files on email attachments

Try checking the file association. Open the Control Panel, Click on Folder Options, Select the File Types tab, Scroll down to locate the PDF extension, Select the PDF extension, Look below in the Details for PDF extension and select Change, locate and select Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader, then make sure there is a check mark in the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file", Click on OK and then close.

Acrobat shuts down immediately when opening file or program.

Hi,

I think I found a workaround.

Not the most handy one but at least it works, and doesn't require any reinstallation or patch or anything :

When you launch Acrobat 8, just before it shuts down, in the"Help" menu do "Repair Acrobat Installation".
By doing that, you will have Acrobat repairing itself in the background. While doing that, it won't shut down and you can still work.

Try it ! It works on my Vista 64.

Good luck !

Axel.

Getting a message about and error on page.

Dear Wendy,

This can happen because of multiple reason:

a) It isn't your fault. The file publisher has not correctly made pdf or its corrupt and won't work on your system because all pdf files can be opened in almost all versions.

b)You might like to check your adobe 8.1 settings for complete installation. Have you correctly installed the program. Also check if you are able to other pdf files on your system or not.

c) you can also try an older version of acrobat, which i doubt should affect the problem.

Finally check the file extensions and password protection problems.

If that was helpful please press solved.
