Hi there, I'm a big fan of the Sims games myself. While I don't know a whole lot about Windows 8, I can say I've gotten older games to run on newer operating systems. What you could do is try right-clicking the E: drive in My Computer where it lists the Sims CD and click Explore. Through that, you should be able to find the Setup.Exe file and try clicking it to run.You may have to right-click it and run it in Compatibility Mode (I recommend Windows XP SP2, most games work well with that one).It's a good sign that your drive reads it, it just might not be recognizing the Autorun file.Good luck with it, if I think of anything else, I'll update.

You need to purchase the game to get the serial number. Each game comes with a serial number that works for one person so we can't just give you one it would be illegal piracy.

their are 2 possible ways, 1 find the first cd..lol 2nd, you can try contacting the manufacture and see if they can reissue you a new 1st cd for the cd key you have. other wise, you will just have to buy a whole new copy.

Check Device Manager from the Control Panel (exact commands depend on the Windows version). You may have a driver issue (look for a yellow triangle with an exclamation point or a red triangle with an x). If you see either one, try updating the driver. Otherwise, it may be a problem with the lens or other part of the hardware. (If you can get a cleaning disc to read, try that.)

If the above do not help: to install the game, either attach an external optical drive (USB) or replace the drive with a new one. (If you don't need a Blu-ray drive, it will be cheaper to replace than to repair the drive.)

you should be able to get direct x 9 off your game cd as it will have it on there if it required it if you install it and it still doesnt work then you need a better graphics card
