Why is there black water in my Euro Steam Iron?

Question moved from Coffee Makers. Has it ever been descaled? That is oxidization from the aluminium tank and sole plate upper surface. https://www.fixya.com/support/r26134544-cleaning_laundry_iron ..

Euro-Pro Steam Generator EP8015 - Rocker switch

The screws holding the unit together are T-20 TORX screws; the center post makes them anti-tamper TORX screws. These screws are used in applications in which the manufacturer does not want the average consumer to attempt repairs. Please don't take this wrong, but if you have to ask about the "unusual 6-sided screw", then you shouldn't be opening the unit.

Unfortunately, when the heating element rocker switch gives out (3-4 years), it is usually about time to overhaul the entire iron (both the tank portion as well as the iron portion). Other things that can cause problems are the thermostat and the pressure actuator.

Contact A2A Consulting at 1-888-830-3563; they can probably fix the unit for you.

Hi i have an edbs920

it can be that one of the thermostats controlling the water flow pump into the steam generator has become open circuit, caution is advised as this can potentially overheat the steam generator for there being lack of water, depending on your system design...i could be wrong just a guess !

What can be done about leaking steam?

ensure your iron steam button is not set into perminent steam function. leaving the iron with the point of the iron pointing upwards should reduce steam to the handle. also the iron may need to be descaled to ensure any steam switch funtion is not stuck in an on position.

I can find only one screw in the housing of the ep

Sounds like a 'TORX' head.
Does it look like a 'star' inside the screw head? A six-sided star? If so, then it is a TORX head.
Look carefully at it, and determine whether or not there is a small pin sticking out of the center.

The screw you are trying to remove is either a Flat-Head (-), a Philips (+) or a TORX (*).

You can get TORX bits almost anywhere, from the Hardware store, the Auto-parts store, to a Dollar store. You can get them with, or without, the little hole for the pin in the head.

You will probably want to buy a little 'set' that has multiple sizes of bits, and a driver, with an extension for reaching into those deep holes.

The iron rest for my

When bases become slippery it is usually due to a couple of things. Either the unit has been used for so long that it has lost friction which could be a dangerous situation and the other being due to dirt and poor maintenance. If the first happens to be the case then the base needs to be replaced but if on the other hand it is due to maintenance then simply unplug the unit and wash the surface with the use of a wet piece of cloth and soap but ensure the liquid quantity is limited.
Being that you really like the iron if you can get a replacement base would be a lot better because it would just ensure that the iron lasts longer. You can always get iron rests from your local hardware store.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Hi,

The steam hose of the iron is kinked and broken inside. You have to replace a new one.So it will limit the amount of steam flow.

How do I clean the

Hello,

You will be needing; Vinegar
, Distilled water, Old clean thick towel and Toothpick

Clean the hard water deposits out of the spray nozzle on your iron by using a thin, sharp needle. Then, clean the hard water deposits out of the plate vents. Flip your iron upside down. Use a toothpick or two to reach just inside each vent. Clear away any deposits and other accumulations of minerals, starch and other gunk.

Clean the hard water deposits out of the water reservoir of your steam iron. To do this, fill the reservoir with 1 part distilled water and 1 part vinegar. (Distilled water is completely free of minerals so it won't clog your steam iron even further.)
Plug your iron in and set it to a hot "steam" setting. Allow it to heat up for a few minutes. Then, spray the steam and run the iron over the towel. Continue this until the reservoir is empty. The vinegar will dissolve minerals and build-up. Running your iron over the towel will help further clean the vents. If your steam iron still isn't completely unclogged, repeat the process.
Fill the reservoir of your steam iron with only distilled water a few more times. Spray the steam and continue to iron the towel until the reservoir is empty after each fill up. This step will rinse the vinegar out.
Good luck.

I have the 1700 Watt

You'll need to get some Calcium, Lime, Rust ( CLR) cleaner. Fill the steam reservoir to full with CLR and turn on the steam function to get the CLR in the system. Unplug Iron and put it in a pan large enough to fit the Iron foot in. Fill pan with CLR until it comes just to the top of the foot and let soak for at least an hour. Empty and refill with Distilled water, then run on steam function and see if that clears out the Calcium deposits. Do this procedure in a well ventilated area as it may stink some. Visually inspect the steam ports for blockage and if there is blockage, clear with a Bamboo skewer or other non - metal probe type object. You may need to repeat this procedure a few times to break up all of the Calcium deposits in the Iron.
You may also want to use compressed air and wrap a rag around the nozzle then insert into the fill port. Blast the air into the Iron to blow the chunky stuff out before doing the above.Hope this helps!!

How much water do i put in this steamer

There is a water level indicator and you must use according to the amount of ironing you have in mine. If there is a whole lot fillit up to the full limit mark , if less use less just for an emergency.
Hope you get this right. Good day
