Bose troubleshooting

Sounds like it's either a problem with the connector on the iPod or on the dock. To find our which see if it works okay on another dock - if you know anybody with one our text it on a demo model in a store. Or it could also be the plastic dock adapter - take our the adapter and try docking without the adapter.

Bose SoundDock Power Supply Pin-outs so I can test one

Hi, The pinouts are as labelled below. The original Bose supply allows for 1A max current, so I would prevent your power supply from going above that.06a0d707-9673-4d2a-b59a-22dabddc7c92.png

No sound from Bose SoundDock

I had this problem on my SoundDock. My iPod would charge on the dock just fine and when I played my iPod on the dock, it would look like it was playing, but have no sound. Since my Bose was out of warranty, this is what I did to fix it. #1 Unplug the adapter. #2 Unscrew the four large screws on the bottom of the speaker and the three small screws under the dock. #3 You'll see one long ribbon connection and one very short one. Check to see if the ribbon connector coming from the front of the speaker system came loose from the green board. You'll only be able to see 1/2 an inch of it sticking out, and it's not easy to plug it back in, but it's possible. Just take your time. #4 Carefully put everything back together being very careful not to let the ribbon fall out of the plug again. #5 Make sure to plug in the DC adapter the correct way. There's a very subtle difference, but there is a difference. There are four prongs - two are square and two have slightly rounded corners. If it's not plugged in the correct way, the dock will have a static clicking sound. On my adapter, the words "DC power" are on the top of the plug.

Try to adjust the volume(on dock only) and just keeps getting louder havt to pull ipod

Volume button stuck in. Try and free the button as it may be jammed. It may need to be taken apart to loosen the up volume button. First try prying it up externally but be careful not to break anything in the process.

Speakers bose docking station make a noise

Have two Bose docking stations and the oldest (white) one have some problems now. When I put in one of my iPods in the docking, the speakers make some weird, creaky noises. Kind of a sound, when I'm looking for a channel on the radio. When I wiggle a little bit the connector from the docking station, it will play some music for a short time. Still it is not the same quality sound, it used to be. Also, some times the sound is too loud and when I touch ONE time the volume minus (-) button, you can hardly hear the music, it is too soft. Hope somebody can solve this problem.

Bose SoundDock burned out two of my iPods - a Nano and a classic.

um ur sounddock might require that u place the white docking piece that came with ur ipod to be place b4 the ipod is docked if not u may ruin the dock and the ipod usb port this is done because different generation ipods(nana and touch and ...) have different shapes so the entrance for docks may require to be eleveated or reduce in gradient basically if the dock isnt made for the specific ipod or u dont know just put the white piece in

When we play our iPod on the Bose system, the sound isn't in stereo. It kinda sounds like a karaoke machine. It used to work just fine. What could have happened? What can I do to fix it?

Maggie, you haven't stated which Bose system you have but the generally if the pop vocals are virtually inaudible and and it sound hollow then your ipod connector is damaged and one of the audio pins is not making contact. I have repaired hundreds of systems and you can spot it straight away. Assuming it is a Sounddock then the most inexpensive best is to 'buy and try' a docking connector from www.invebo.com. You can do it yourself click here to see the guide video. (Buy and try means that you are guaranteed a refund if it doesn't fix your problem)

New ipod won't charge on bose docking station

I have been looking for sometime and have finally found a 3rd party power converter. Another solution is to send your docking station to Bose and for $99.00 they will repin the dock so charging will work. The converter and adapter only cost about $30.00. Here is the link to the site I ordered from. I just ordered it so I am not abot to confirm functionality yet.....
