Sounds like it's either a problem with the connector on the iPod or on the dock. To find our which see if it works okay on another dock - if you know anybody with one our text it on a demo model in a store. Or it could also be the plastic dock adapter - take our the adapter and try docking without the adapter.

Hi, The pinouts are as labelled below. The original Bose supply allows for 1A max current, so I would prevent your power supply from going above that.

If the cords are broken why dont you change or replace it it??

Have two Bose docking stations and the oldest (white) one have some problems now. When I put in one of my iPods in the docking, the speakers make some weird, creaky noises. Kind of a sound, when I'm looking for a channel on the radio. When I wiggle a little bit the connector from the docking station, it will play some music for a short time. Still it is not the same quality sound, it used to be. Also, some times the sound is too loud and when I touch ONE time the volume minus (-) button, you can hardly hear the music, it is too soft. Hope somebody can solve this problem.

Volume button stuck in. Try and free the button as it may be jammed. It may need to be taken apart to loosen the up volume button. First try prying it up externally but be careful not to break anything in the process.

Maggie, you haven't stated which Bose system you have but the generally if the pop vocals are virtually inaudible and and it sound hollow then your ipod connector is damaged and one of the audio pins is not making contact. I have repaired hundreds of systems and you can spot it straight away. Assuming it is a Sounddock then the most inexpensive best is to 'buy and try' a docking connector from www.invebo.com. Did you get various base adapters with the Bose dock. Not all phones have the same pin configurations.

clarification, first try to use your ipod using your ear phone if good, try to check the battery of your ipod dock station it might be broken try to replace it.

My guess is that the iPod connector in the Sounddock is loose or damaged. You can get a new connector and solder it on yourself (very difficult!) or you could get a replacement PCB at http://www.chargeconverter.com/store/index.php?route=product/category&path=37 which is quite easy to replace (see http://ridax.wordpress.com for description).

I just had the same problem with mine - turns out the Bose docking stations are comlete and utter **** and if yours keeps working you're one of the lucky few. Mine only had sparodic use over a 3 month period and it stopped producing sound the other day. I took it to a repair shop and they've seen a lot of them with the same problem. The solution - dump it in the bin and get a logitec set of speakers & you'll have better sound. This was proven by attaching the iPod to each system.

I see that your are having a no sound from your Sound Dock.

*On your Sound Dock while your ipod is docked check if the Volume is set to normal.
* If there are any other devices connected behind on the input jack then you may need to Remove or Disconnect that device.
*try playing audio from your ipod again this should work now.

If the issue is the same try to press and hold down the Play/Pause Button for atleast2-3 seconds. also check link below.

yes it can but is very time consuming also depends on model of dock

We have an HCL desktop computer. Though we had loaded Ac97 Sound Driver still the sound is not coming (totally soundless) Can you suggest what to do?
