You can lock your router by setting a password to access it. This is done in your router setup, in the Wireless area. I prefer WPA-PSK [TKIP] for the ease of setup and password selections. This should keep unwanted access to your wireless signal.

Easiest way to change your wireless password would be to log-in to the router and configure it from there. To do this you need to a few things:
- Connect your laptop to your Belkin router with an Ethernet cable. This allows a direct connection to the router so we can log-in.
- Find your routers IP address. To do this, it really depends on what operating system you're on. If it's windows XP/Vista/7; you'll do this by going to command prompt. Click the Start button then go to All Programs on the bottom left side, click on Accessories, and from within there you'll see a black icon called Command Prompt. Open that up and type this in: ipconfig You'll get something like this:Look for the Default Gateway under Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection.
- Open a Browser and type in that Default Gateway in to the address bar at the top (where you normally type in www.whatever.com..ect), For example, for mine, I'd open up my browser and type in 192.168.0.1 and hit enter.
- After you do that you should be taken to your router's configuration menus. For Belkin's, it's usually on the left hand side menu under Wireless and then Security. **If you're prompted for a password just leave it blank and hit submit. Also under the Wireless section on the left you can change your SSID or Network Name to something you see fit. To do that just click on Channel and SSID and change the SSID to whatever you like. Just be sure to hit Apply Changes at the bottom and the router should give you some kind of notification saying it working and when it's done.
**If you're prompted for a password and leaving it blank doesn't work, chances are you'll need to do a reset on the router so it goes back to default settings. To do this just use the small pin-hole sized reset button on back of the router, it should be where all the cables plug in to it. Use a paperclip or ball-point pen and hold it in for about 10-20sec and let go.

you need to login the router in the address bar... the address depends on the make of the router, typically it's 192.168.1.1 for linksys. I would google Belkin (model#) password. and it will give your default username and password for your specific router. If somebody has already taken over your router just unplug it for a minute or press the reset button on the back. Resetting the power on it puts it back into default login, so now you want to change the administrator password after you login the router from the web address bar.
